I've got review copies for The Paradox of Vertical Flight and How to Love so we will be reading those together this autumn. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that Harlequin is investing into other subjects not just romances. The Returned sounds very interesting. And those hardbacks look amazing. Also Katie McGarry <3 I still haven't read Blood of Eden but I've got the books.
I haven't heard about The Valley of Amazement by Amy Tan before but China and courtesans... Must read for me. Thank god I read ebooks because that paperback would cause some serious pain in my hand from holding.
As always, I hope you like them all. Happy reading. ;)
Ha, I hope they're more awesome than I'm expecting. I just have zero interest in babies/pregnancy. And by zero, I'm rounding up my interest. :/
DeleteYes, romance is great, but diversifying is fantastic. They seriously put money into those hardbacks. Since I always take the dust cover off when I read, I'm very grateful.
Isn't it PRETTY? I'm pretty excited. Amy Tan's supposed to be awesome.
I totally forgot they were about pregnancy/babies. It's not a topic I'm familiar with either. I know more about Mars colonisation. LOL But I hope it turns out to be good, I am always optimistic about my future reads. :)
DeleteYes, mixing up the genres is the best. I could never read only one, it's gets boring. I also read hardback with dust cover off so I appreciate an inventive design. Although these days since I do most reading on my ereader the cover stays on. I need that light attached to cover to read in bed while my husband is blissfully sleeping unaware what is going on. :D
It's so pretty and shiny! I have never read anything by Amy Tan before but I added her to my wishlist so hopefully she and I will get better acquainted.
Haha, I don't know all that much about pregnancy/babies, but I don't want to know more. The whole thing creeps me out. Then again, it's a plot point in the book I'm reading now and I love it, so it CAN be done.
DeleteOh, I always keep my ereader cover on. For one thing, I'm not sure how to take it off, and also I could drop it at any point. It's weird. I don't drop my physical books nearly as much as I drop my ereader. Thank goodness for cases.
This will be my first one, so I do hope it's delightful!
Babies scare me to. I can not even hold them until they get a little bit sturdier (like a year or so) I always freak out I am going to break them or something. And all those stories new parents share about labour, diaper changing etc. Like they want to kill your desire to have your own baby ever again. I haven't read many books with babies/pregnancy in them, authors usually stop at the hea. :)
DeleteI'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who sometimes drops her ereader. As you said thank god for that cover. :D
Oh man, I dread the day my friends start having kids and are like "will you hold baby?" because my answer will be "NO." Ew, I do not want to hear their baby stories. If I wanted a baby, I would have one. Yours is all for you.
DeleteI don't know why. It's like it's magnetized to the ground.
I love that you are separating this by publisher! So much more manageable.
ReplyDeleteThat was the idea! Glad it's working.
DeleteAnother post with great sounding books. I agree with Nori that I like the idea of separating it by publishers. I can't wait to read How to Love. I have the ebook of that and it sounds great!!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I wanted to show off the books, because if I can't read them all in time, then I want to promote them somehow, you know?
DeleteAmy Tan is awesome. So hoping you enjoy her new book.
ReplyDeleteAlso hoping you enjoy FIND ME. Thanks for picking it up :)
Katie McGarry is also wonderful. Looking forward to your reviews on her. I think she did a great job with PUSHING THE LIMITS, but I haven't read her second.
I hope so too!
DeleteI was excited I was able to make it into your line after grabbing Shadowlark. Also glad the Friday box made it.
LOVE Katie's books. I've actually read both already. :)
I wish I would have gotten here in time for the High Tea as I was invited too. Maybe I will have to fly in earlier next year.
ReplyDeleteYou are not doing anything wrong. You're perfect! :D
I got invited to request The Returned as I did not pick up a copy at BEA but I passed. I'm just not sure I would like it.
I love what Harlequin is doing too. And I also got a copy of Teatime and the Firefly. Thank Steph for that one!
Harlequin's hardbacks are amazing, I agree since I read without the jacket on. :D
I can't wait to read Heartbeat. I hope I have better luck with this one than I did the other ones I read. If not, I am probably giving up, which is such a shame as she was SO NICE.
OMG I cannot wait to read The Valley of Amazement and you know all that. Thank you for grabbing me that COPY!
Oh please make Find Me be good. I love Romily so much. And yes, Ashleigh liking it is definitely a bonus.
I wish I had been able to grab a copy of The Boy on the Porch. I really wanted that one. I bet that was on the second day, which I missed. I DIE.
Super great haul! I have to go watch the Penguin one now!
Maybe so. The high tea was pretty cool.
Delete*basks in own perfection*
Oh, yeah, I'm not sure about The Returned but I am curious to see what it's like. Could be awesome.
Thanks, Steph!
Jackets are so annoying. If we could not have them and the books underneath could be pretty that would be awesome.
Yeah, I'm afraid because of the whole bad boy-focused blurb.
NO PROBS.
I hope so. I mean, Ashleigh tends to be more particular than I am, though sometimes she loves things and I tilt my head, so we'll see.
You can has it if you wants it.
I'm seriously excited about The Returned - it just has such an awesome sounding premise. I really enjoyed The Eternity Cure - more so than Immortal Rules I think. Probably because I was totally heart throbbing for Jackal.
ReplyDeleteThe premise does sound really cool, and I hope the execution matches it. Oh, see, I was on the other side. I didn't think The Eternity Cure was nearly as strong. Only got a three because of Jackal, who, I agree, is awesome.
DeleteOoooo I got HOW TO LOVE from Edelweiss, and it sounds so good! Can't wait to read it!
ReplyDeleteI'm very afraid! Pregnancy = no.
DeleteI was super intrigued by The Returned but I read a little bit of the prologue (free on Amazon if you're interested) and I wasn't super sold on it so I didn't request it... will be on the look out for what you think of this though, definitely.
ReplyDeleteBonnie @ Sweet Tidbits
I don't know that I would have gone so far as to request it, but since it was in my goodie bag, seemed worth a try.
DeleteI love the set up of your BEA vlogs. Its nice to see them separated by publisher, and I really love hearing you talk a bit about them too. I didn't realise How To Love was about pregnancy either. Doesn't bother me so much, but pregnancy and abandonment? We should not be promoting this! Boy on the Porch is a new one for me though, and it sounds good. And 151 pages would definitely be good to bump up my reading count >..<
ReplyDeleteYeah, will be interesting to see if she can pull off that romance. I know I wouldn't forgive a guy who ran off while I was pregnant. Though maybe he didn't know? *shrugs* I can't say anything for sure.
DeleteOh Heartbeat! I adore Elizabeth Scott so much and I'm very excited for her latest title.
ReplyDeletehahaha I love how you feel exactly how I do about pregnancy books so I'll be looking forward to reading your thoughts on How to Love!! The Valley of Amazement looks really great too, not just because of that cover but admittedly partly because of it :) Oh and I seriously need to get going on the Blood of Eden series, I'd only had them as ebooks but scoring both the physical copies and getting one of them signed really got me more motivated LOL Awesome selection this time around too girl, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteBleh, babies. NO thanks! The Immortal Rules was a lot of fun! You should definitely get to that. :)
DeleteI read The Returned a few weeks ago - it wasn't quite what I thought it would be, but it was a nice surprise.
ReplyDelete:o I didn't know those hardbacks were so gorgeous under the cover - that is awesome!
Maybe the babies play very insignificant roles - well I hope so for your sake!
I love that you have adult books btw ;)
Oh, cool! I was concerned and then I was excited by this comment.
DeleteFOR REAL. ALL THE PRETTY!
GOOD LORD, PLEASE.
Go me!
