I imagine the shark kept ramming the canoe until it the canoe broke? No idea....or something. He didn't say it was a hole, but it definitely sounded much, much worse than just a hole either. But he fixed it up enough to sail back home with wire. Either this guy is super resourceful with wire or he's a magician. I like to imagine he rode the shark home. Like a boss.

Ah, kids. I remember my peers making a big deal out of looking up the word "sex" in the dictionary. So nerdy. But then again, saying "stupid" and "shut up!" was already considered swearing.
Okay, ow that I think about it more carefully, I think it was fifth grade and not 4th grade.Lilianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11540910005642018594noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-555254327067745492.post-30668253343795553982013-02-07T08:54:08.976-05:002013-02-07T08:54:08.976-05:00Awwww, yay!Awwww, yay!Christinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00370486039531015541noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-555254327067745492.post-82812462931561778422013-02-07T08:53:58.381-05:002013-02-07T08:53:58.381-05:00He should have said, because omg that doesn't ...He should have said, because omg that doesn't sound like a thing. I mean, a shark damaging a boat would seem to involve a hole and you can't fix holes with wire. Duct tape WOULD be more believable, though tape doesn't tend to like water, but at least it covers things!

*resists* *twitches*

I don't remember precisely either. I just remember that at some point in elementary school, everyone would giggle anytime the gym teacher said "balls," which was a lot because it's gym. We had sex ed in 6th grade. At first I thought it might've been a mistranslation in subtitles (since he was talking in another language) but I clearly heard "wire" in his sentence...If I read it in a book, I would probably criticize it for being completely unbelievable.
I mean, if it was even something like DUCT TAPE I would have an easier time believing it. But then again, before today I didn't even know you could catch sharks with a noose made up of ROPE and a bat. But he did it. Twice.

I know you want to...*nudge nudge*

I don't even remember when I found out about sex. Surely wasn't sex ed in 4th grade... we had to get our parents to sign the form permitting us to take sex ed. And if you parents didn't sign, you were sent in another room. I didn't want to be separated from my friends and be the only one not taking sex ed (just in case my parents were more conservative than I imagined,) I lied to my mom and told her it was just some health form she had to sign.
To this day, I don't think she knew (because her English is not that great and she signs pretty much anything I ask her to--damn, I sound like an awful daughter.)Lilianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11540910005642018594noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-555254327067745492.post-77238828079320781822013-02-07T01:03:49.362-05:002013-02-07T01:03:49.362-05:00OMG - if I did a top ten, hanging out with you wou...OMG - if I did a top ten, hanging out with you would be on it too - SO FUN!!!!!Lenore Appelhanshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16664671644163369772noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-555254327067745492.post-80150685237634075422013-02-06T16:53:15.380-05:002013-02-06T16:53:15.380-05:00What? How was the damage fixable with wire? But the guys of that island still go out on their TINY canoes half naked for shark catching. They get excited over sharks. One guy in the documentary was saying how happy he was that he was able to attract four sharks near his canoe. Until they attacked his canoe causing it to break apart...BUT he was able to fix it with WIRE (I would love to know how.) While he was talking about it I was trying to catch a glimpse of his hands in the interview just to make sure he didn't get his arms bitten off or something.

I am sure hacking skills would come in handy for Chris Hansen in tracking down those pedophiles. (we are required to take Hawaiian Studies, which encompasses other island cultures as well) These people are seriously badass, they paddle out on a TINY canoe, and catch sharks by slipping a NOOSE on the shark and then beating it with a bat...or spearing them by throwing spears.
