What a gorgeous review of a gorgeous book, and so insightful and clever and putting all the others to shaaame.

Except poo, poo to not liking the poetry. *sniffs* You just don't UNDERSTAND.GillyBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03622344092774777709noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-555254327067745492.post-40890807776968023102013-09-03T20:43:42.842-04:002013-09-03T20:43:42.842-04:00Your reviews are always so unbelievably scholarly,...Your reviews are always so unbelievably scholarly, and I LOVE them. They're so deep and thoughtful and pull out details about the semantics and syntax that I wish I could think of on my own. Once again, amazing job.

(And yeah, poetry's not my thing either, though I loved Battle Hymn of 1944.)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02117225682735602543noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-555254327067745492.post-54765824824376143722013-09-03T20:19:00.434-04:002013-09-03T20:19:00.434-04:00Wow you got this review up fast!

And was completely floored by how well Wein changed it after the break with the letters. Completely different girl came back and it shows. But she's still Rose, and that takes skill on a level that awes me.

(I don't get poetry as a general rule either. Not my favorite part. There was one line from Rose's poetry I loved and quoted in my review-which will post tomorrow-but other than that it's not my favorite part.)Brandyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12105770016693038906noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-555254327067745492.post-85605160802492874412013-09-03T14:31:57.938-04:002013-09-03T14:31:57.938-04:00I never read Code Name Verity because I didn't...I never read Code Name Verity because I didn't have time. I got an invite to read it too and wish I had. This sounds really good. I'm not much of a poetry person, but if the rest of the story is really good, I can get past it. (Jumped In had poetry and I liked that.) Oddly enough, I never read Code Name Verity, but when I saw this at BEA I immediately snapped it up and your review has made me all the more excited for it. :)Hannahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14609984238909948421noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-555254327067745492.post-76887091299892450872013-09-03T13:21:24.539-04:002013-09-03T13:21:24.539-04:00To be honest, for some reason I was never able to ...To be honest, for some reason I was never able to get throug Code Name Verity so my e-galley expired and now I'm left regretting not trying harder. Gah. But Rose Uder Fire was SO GOOD. I'm the same - I hardly get emotional while reading, but this one had me in tears. And yay, I'm not the only one who skimmed through some of her poems. I just can't find any love for poetry, which is a bit sad. The poetry was hard for me too-just did not get it though I'm not usually a poetry person anyway. The Insouciant Sophisticatehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03934853089105345052noreply@blogger.com
