Waiting on Wednesday (11)

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine. Click on the image above to go there!

I usually only do one book, because I want the focus to be properly directed on that title, however I forgot to schedule one pre-BEA, so I'm going to do two to make up for my failure last week.

WoW Pick the First:
Speaking of failures last week, I totally meant to ask around at the Macmillan booth to see if they had any copies of this, but I totally forgot! No! When I remembered, I couldn't recall who the publisher was. Dang lack of smart phone! I would love to read this for dystopian month in August, but I think I'll be waiting until the publication date at least. Oh, me and my first world problems. Anyway, I freaking love this dystopian series. The first book was solid, but it was Prized that totally caught me. I must know what happens!

Promised
Birthmarked #3

Author: Caragh M. O'Brien
Expected Publication Date: October 2, 2012
Publisher: Roaring Brook Press
Goodreads Link: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13010211-promised

Synopsis from Goodreads:

After defying the ruthless Enclave, surviving the wasteland, and upending the rigid matriarchy of Sylum, Gaia Stone now faces her biggest challenge ever. She must lead the people of Sylum back to the Enclave and persuade the Protectorat to grant them refuge from the wasteland. In Gaia’s absence, the Enclave has grown more cruel, more desperate to experiment on mothers from outside the wall, and now the stakes of cooperating or rebelling have never been higher. Is Gaia ready, as a leader, to sacrifice what—or whom—she loves most?

WoW Pick the Second:
And now for something completely different! I have another dystopia I really want, but that seems a bit excessive, so I think I'll save that pretty for next week's. My second pick is a middle grade title that just looks like the cutest. Besides, I love a good pun, and this title is puntastic. I've had some twitter chats with Joanne Levy, and she seems like the sweetest. I already adore her, and now I want to admire her novel!

Small Medium at Large

Author: Joanne Levy

Expected Publication Date: July 3, 2012

Publisher: Bloomsbury

Goodreads Link: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/11354687-small-medium-at-large

Synopsis from Goodreads:

After she’s hit by lightning at a wedding, twelve-year-old Lilah Bloom develops a new talent: she can hear dead people. Among them, there’s her overopinionated Bubby Dora; a prissy fashion designer; and an approval-seeking clown who livens up a séance. With Bubby Dora leading the way, these and other sweetly imperfect ghosts haunt Lilah through seventh grade, and help her face her one big fear: talking to—and possibly going to the seventh-grade dance with—her crush, Andrew Finkel.

I'm intrigued by Small Medium at Large. I think I'll probably end up ordering it for the library. I have some little girl patrons who have expressed interest in it. And I think it's time for me to read Birthmarked. :-)

Obviously I haven't read SMaL yet, but it sounds adorable, and I'm sure those little girl patrons will love it.

Yeah, I didn't like the Promised cover at first, but it's growing on me. The textured look is amazing.

Haha, I can't wait to see what I think of it either!
