Waiting on Wednesday (18)

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine.

Throughout Dystopian August, I'm going to continue doing my WoW posts, but I'll be featuring only dystopias, which...really isn't that much different than usual. ;) This week I'm featuring the sequel to one of my favorite reads of 2011, Enclave. There's a powerful heroine, a non-obnoxious love triangle and a crazy horrifying United States. I am so excited to find out what will happen next!

Outpost
Razorland, Book 2

Author: Ann Aguirre
Expected Publication Date: September 4, 2012
Publisher: Feiwel & Friends

Synopsis from Goodreads:

Deuce’s whole world has changed. Down below, she was considered an adult. Now, topside in a town called Salvation, she’s a brat in need of training in the eyes of the townsfolk. She doesn’t fit in with the other girls: Deuce only knows how to fight.

To make matters worse, her Hunter partner, Fade, keeps Deuce at a distance. Her feelings for Fade haven’t changed, but he seems not to want her around anymore. Confused and lonely, she starts looking for a way out.

Deuce signs up to serve in the summer patrols—those who make sure the planters can work the fields without danger. It should be routine, but things have been changing on the surface, just as they did below ground. The Freaks have grown smarter. They’re watching. Waiting. Planning. The monsters don’t intend to let Salvation survive, and it may take a girl like Deuce to turn back the tide.

Note: Before you leave, remember that if you go fill out the form on this post, every comment on a post, including this one, during August will enter you to win one of 14 dystopian novels!

I still need to read Enclave. Honestly, it was one of the dystopian novels I didn't think much of (partly because I thought the cover was boring...I am that shallow) But if it's one of your 2011 favorites, I'm curious!

My audiobook of Enclave hasn't come in yet. *pouts*

Yay! Hope you like it. There are creepy zombie-esque (though not zombies) creatures, so I think you'll dig it. :)

The cover IS boring. No doubt. :-p The book is action-packed, though!

I really can't wait to read this one! And it comes out in a month! I feel like the last time I checked it's publication date, it was like a year away! Progress.

I haven't read the first one yet but the cover makes it look quite scary. I've heard great reviews for this one, so I'll give it a go. :)

I had the opportunity to meet Ann Aguirre a month or two ago and thought she was absolutely wonderful. I haven't yet read Enclave, but I have read mixed reviews. However, since you obviously loved it, I think I may have to read it sooner rather than later :-) It _does_ sound like my type of read!

Great pick! <3

I suppose the mixed reviews don't surprise me. I'm a total sucker for dystopias with a powerful heroine. :D

It could also be tough because there's a different vibe to the first half and the second half. You have to like both or it's going to be difficult to get through.

Woo! I'm always worried our similar YA taste will fail and then it doesn't. Lol.
