Welcome to Dystopian August + Giveaway Details

It's time for Dystopian August, guys!!!!

As everyone knows, August is the month of dystopias, because Lenore Appelhans said so. She's been doing Dystopian August and February for years now on her blog Presenting Lenore, and even has her own dystopian novel coming out this January. She features reviews, interviews and overviews of forthcoming titles. Because I love the event so much and always end up reading a bunch of dystopias anyway, I decided to copy her, because imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right? Lenore totally does know and approve; I did not just up and steal her idea, so no worries there. Mine will be much more review-focused, since I'm a review-heavy blogger anyway. I'll hit 500 reviews during Dystopian August. Woo! I also have a couple of interviews planned and some top ten lists, as well as some Waiting on Wednesdays with the dystopian novels I'm most excited for in the coming year. I've got 40-some books I'm hoping to review during August, only 10 of which have I already read, so I hope I get to all of them! Oh, and, just so you all know, I'm pretty loose on my inclusion into Dystopian August. Some of the books we may even decide AREN'T dystopian, but if they have buzz for possibly being dystopian, they'll still be here. Also, post-apocalytpic and dystopian are buds. Dystopian August is very inclusive. :)

The first review, coming up at noon today will be for Lenore's book, so make sure you come back and check that out. For the duration of Dystopian August, we will have special guest judges here to provide ratings: the zombicorns!

Now, let me talk about the part everyone's most excited about: the giveaway. There will be one primary giveaway for Dystopian August: this one. I did a lot of thinking about how to work this and here's what's going to happen. The giveaway will be comment-based. For every review you comment on, you will get an entry into the giveaway. All you have to do is fill out the Google Docs form below with your contact info and comment name, and I will do all of the point tallying. Make sure you fill out the form, because otherwise all the comments in the world don't count! Following is not required, although, obviously, it would make it easier for you to come back and comment, and is always appreciated. This giveaway is US only, since I have to ship all of these bad boys. If you scroll down through, I do have an international giveaway up as well.

Yes, I do know that Dawn of the Dreadfuls is not a dystopia, but it has zombies, so I'll stretch and call it post-apocalyptic. Who cares? It's a free book, guys. I might add a couple more books to this as I read through my pile, so there could be MORE prizes.

Oh, also, I don't want to forget my international friends. I really wish it were not so expensive to ship things to you guys, but it is, so ugh. Anyway, it's not much, but I want to do something for you guys, so I'm offering a dystopia or post-apocalyptic book from your choice (within a reasonable price range TBD by me...I'm not buying you a 50 dollar book) from The Book Depository or Fishpond. Yay! This one I'm going to do with good old Rafflecopter, and I'm going to make really basic.
