Waiting on Wednesday (24): Strangelets

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine.

Apparently Michelle Magnon has written several books, but I've only heard of Don't Turn Around, which I plan to listen to on audio soon. I hope I like it, because this one sounds so incredibly creepy and cool. I really love the whole trapped teens thing, not to mention my affection for issues with memory. Add in a 'deadly, desolate world' and I am ALL OVER THIS.
Strangelets

Author: Michelle Gagnon
Expected Publication Date: April 9, 2013
Publisher: Soho Teen

Synopsis from Goodreads:

On a day like any other, six smarter-than-most teens wake up in the same hospital after having experienced a traumatic event that they can't quite remember ... other than being forcibly sucked into an abyss at the moment of their deaths. Somebody or something seems to be pulling the strings. With individual clocks ticking─and with each guarding an individual secret─they band together and conspire to piece together the whole of what happened.

Soon they discover that they've been trapped in a future that isn't of their making: a deadly, desolate world at once entirely familiar and utterly strange. Only one of them holds the key to getting them home. But which one, and why? As the truth is revealed through the eyes of its three key players, the reader is taken on a dark journey into both the hearts of teens who must do anything to survive, and into the heart of a parent who will do anything to protect his child.

Oh, and I did read And Then There were None a looooong time ago and hardly remember anything from it. After I read Ten I will have to go back and reread that one and see how similar it is.

WOW, this sounds awesome! I had no idea she had written several other books, I just assumed she was a debut author. I also didn't realise that Don't Turn Around is available NOW on kindle as I'm waiting for the hardback in October.

Ha, I didn't know that either! I don't buy books on Kindle pretty much ever, so...doesn't matter to me for the most part. It's cool how they do that though, the early releases for electronic versions. I bet it gets them some double sales. :-p

I agree about the trapped teens thing. It's kind of a creepy like but whatevs. This one does sound really good, I wasn't too big on Don't Turn Around, I think it garnered a 3 from me, so I hope this one steps it up a bit.

I know you weren't and I hope this one's better. :-/

Still, this plot called to me more than Don't Turn Around's did, so I have hope!

I like Soho Crime, but I didn't even know they had a teen imprint *O*

And Michelle Gagnon! I have to read Don't Turn Around, then I can judge if I like her writing. I don't have high hopes though, I still think teen protagonists makes crime/thrillers lame 80% of the time.

The teen imprint is NEW. Like shiny, brand-spanking new.

I don't read many thrillers, so I can't really rate adult vs. teen. *shrug*
