Cover Snark (62): That Touch of Snark

Welcome to Cover Snark, where the people are snarky and the covers quiver in fear. Since I don't write many snarky book reviews here on A Reader of Fictions, Cover Snark is my outlet. If you click on the title of the book, where possible, I've linked to Goodreads. Clicking on the cover itself will show you the cover in a larger size, in most cases. Feel free to love covers I hate and vice versa. Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

Shiny and New:

1. The Junction of Sunshine and Lucky - Holly Schindler
Thoughts: Very reminiscent of The Way Things Work. It's interesting, but isn't really giving me an idea what the book is about.

2. Timestorm (Tempest #3) - Julie Cross
Thoughts: WHY DOESN'T THIS LOOK LIKE THE OTHER TWO? IS THIS GETTING A THIRD REDESIGN. IF SO, FML.

3. Origin (Lux #4) - Jennifer L. Armentrout
Thoughts: Bahahahahahahahaha. Nothing makes me take a guy seriously like a leather jacket with no shirt. And what's up with his hairstyle? Also, apparently girls need to be saved. By bad boys in their leather jackets with their anger management issues. Sigh.

4. Simple Perfection (Perfection #2) - Abbi Glines
Thoughts: Yes it is simple, but wouldn't know perfection if it gave it a lapdance.

5. Face of Death (Touch of Death #3) - Kelly Hashway
Thoughts: That's your death face? Very intimidating the way you play with your hair and fling your head to the right, all while wearing a costume that looks like a cross between a tutu and Bjork's swan dress.

6. I Breathe You - Lori L. Clark
Thoughts: As long as they REALIZE they're breathing, I guess it's okay.

7. Twist & Turn (The Twisted Trilogy #2) - Christa Simpson
Thoughts: Look, non-white people can also pose on covers! He's too muscular for me, but he does have a pretty face. I also really like her shirt, but 3/4 length sleeves are obnoxious. What are you good for, sleeves?

8. The Unleashed (Blemished #3) - Sarah Dalton
Thoughts: Pretty! Also, like every dystopian cover ever. Girl, with hair blowing in the wind walks toward city. BUM BUM BUM.

9. Cipher (Cipher #1) - Cindi Madsen
Thoughts: HALP, MY HAIR IS EATING MY FACEEEEEEEE. Also, lame tagline, cool title font, weird dress.

10. The Apollo Academy (The Apollo Academy #1) - Kimberly P. Chase
Thoughts: *snorts* I wonder if Cora Carmack's obsession takes the form of staring at the book the way the girl is staring at that guy. SHE WILL NEVER STOP STARING.

11. Daughter of Chaos - Jen McConnel
Thoughts: Yawn. Girl with hair in her face has been done enough. This one comes immediately to mind, but there are tons. The font is snazzy and the fact that the tagline warns about ginger witches amuses me (beware the Weasleys!), but nothing new.

12. The Sowing (The Torch Keeper #2) - Steven Dos Santos
Thoughts: And when there are no choices, it's time to throw a ball at an inferno. That always helps.

13. The Sandman Overture - Neil Gaiman and J.H. Williams
Thoughts: Sandman journeys back in time to the 1970s and takes a whole lot of shrooms obvi.

14. Creators (The Lost Souls #3) - Tiffany Truitt
Thoughts: Love can't be extinguished, huh? IS THAT A CHALLENGE?

15. Unwrapped Sky - Rjurik Davidson
Thoughts: Oooh, this is awesome. Look at that minotaur! What I find puzzling, though, is that it looks like he's grabbing her, only I think they're allies, because he's not looking at her.

16. Steles of the Sky - Elizabeth Bear
Thoughts: LOOK AT THE FOAL. Gah. They had me at horses.

17. While Beauty Slept - Elizabeth Blackwell
Thoughts: You know what would be really cool? If this had the thorns that grew up around the castle while she slept.

18. Taste of Darkness (Healer #3) - Maria V. Snyder
Thoughts: This is probably the best of the covers for this series. However, could those clothes look any more modern and out of place with that cloak? Also, check out that pimp goblet!

19. The Goblin Emperor - Katherine Addison
Thoughts: Oh man, when I have a kingdom, I'm totally having my crown made in the shape of my palace. Why not right? It'll even have a little miniature dirigible that will orbit my head, to show that I am the center of the universe.

20. The Iron Fey, Volume One: The Iron King / The Iron Daughter (The Iron Fey #1-2) - Julie Kagawa
Thoughts: *snorts* Moving on.

21. That Touch of Magic (Nodaway Falls #2) - Lucy March
Thoughts: I WANT NOTHING SO MUCH IN THE WORLD AS A WAFFLE.

22. In Dreams - Erica Orloff
Thoughts: So this cover is the original Life's a Witch combined with Untouched. Good to know. The bad thing with stock images is I look at your book, but am thinking of other books, not this one.

23. A Mad, Wicked Folly - Sharon Biggs Waller
Thoughts: She is floating. Just floating right over that piazza. WEIRD. Awesome title, though. Wicked sweet.

24. Nightingale's Nest - Nikki Loftin
Thoughts: If this isn't adapted into a Miyazaki film or an anime, I shall weep tears of blood.

25. Grasshopper Jungle - Andrew Smith
Thoughts: It ain't easy being green. Especially this green. I swear I feel my retinas burning.

Cover Battles:

1. Owlet (Society of Feathers #1) - Emma Michaels
Original vs. Redesign: Hmmm, girl in a dress or girl rubbing boy's chin like I rub my cat's. They've also added a hilariously ridiculous tagline, which basically suggests she's Buzz Lightyear and falls with style.

2. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Harry Potter #3) - J.K. Rowling
Original vs. Redesign: You know what? I REALLY didn't want to like these better than the originals, which are a huge part of my childhood, but these new ones are glorious. LOOK at that patronus. And the dementors. *stares in wonderment*

3. Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire (Harry Potter #4) - J.K. Rowling
Original vs. Redesign: Hmmm, not quite as big a fan of this one, though it is better, bc look at Harry's happy derp face on the original.

4. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Harry Potter #5) - J.K. Rowling
Original vs. Redesign: Gah, look at that sky and everything. I want to go to there. Also, I need to reread Harry Potter posthaste, because I cannot identify what scene this is. That is just sad.

5. Finding It (Losing It #3) - Cora Carmack
UK vs. US: US cover, do you want to tell me what the heck you're doing. Why are you half blurbs? I thought you were a joke when I first saw you. The UK cover understands how to look like the rest of the series. Blergh. US, you are a consistency fail.

6. Famously Engaged - Robyn Thomas
Original vs. Redesign: Romance no longer comes in color. Also, now with many more serenades.

7. The Wedding Gamble - Cindi Myers
Take 1 vs. Take 2: Was this worth changing? It's pretty much the exact same thing. *eyes cover*

8. Dishing Up Desire - Barbara DeLeo
Take 1 vs. Take 2: Okay, this one definitely looks creepier in black and white, right? Or is that just me.

9. Sekret (Sekret #1) - Linday Smith
Kat Kennedy of Cuddlebuggery x3 vs. Macmillan: Kat Kennedy is the loser, because I hate her for designing that one with the worms. That may be the most frightening cover I've ever seen. Well, either that or Baby from the Zom-B series. On the finished cover, I am loving the Soviet look to the font.

10. Keeping Her (Losing It #1.5) - Cora Carmack
US vs. UK: Again, US, have you seen the other covers in this series. WTF is going on with this. Christina does not approve of your shenanigans.

11. The Pilgrims - Will Elliott
Jo Fletcher vs. Tor: The original wasn't so bad for what I assume is a small press, but HOLY CRAP that Tor one is GORGEOUS.

12. Crimes Against Magic (Hellequin Chronicles #1) by Steve McHugh
Hidden Realms vs. 47North:  Lol, Amazon has upgraded this dude from a shiny jump rope to awesome swingy rave lights.

13. The Time Traveler's Almanac - Ann VanderMeer & Jeff VanderMeer, eds.
UK vs. US: Ooh, both pretty, but I like the brightness and uniqueness of the orange cover.

14. The Crown of Embers (Fire and Thorns #2) - Rae Carson

US vs. UK vs. French: Each of these covers has something to recommend it. If I knew nothing about the story, the French cover would win hands down. It's astoundingly pretty. However, Elisa probably hasn't been that thin since she was a preteen. In the UK cover, I like that it very much looks like it's set in a different culture. The US covers don't actually appeal to me much, because I don't know why Elisa's face is on the jewel in her belly, but whatever.

WTF of the Week:

1. Third Bites a Charm (Emily Sullivan #3) - Mary Whitten
Thoughts: When there's a grammatical error in the title, well, it doesn't bode well. I've looked and looked for the apostrophe that belongs in that title and I cannot find it, as it does not exist. Unless this book involves a character named Third who bites a charm. Then I'm wrong, and I apologize.

2. Rakasha - Robert Davis
Thoughts: One of those descriptors definitely applies.

Outstanding Cover of the Week:
Nightingale's Nest by Nikki Loftin

Looking back at most of my comments, I'm one mean sucker today. Mwahahahaha!

2. I see the designers at St. Martin's Griffin picked up on the Penguin Teen people's methods and a drinking game decided the Tempest books would get ANOTHER redesign. They'd have to be drunk to think it looks good. :/ I've never been interested in the series, but Tempest and Vortex had better original covers than that!

3. I laughed so hard at this cover IRL, not gonna lie. I keep seeing people make this out to be the BEST COVER EVAR and I'm like WHAT ARE YOU SMOKING? KEEP IT AWAY FROM ME. It's badly put together and he's glowing and this cover is all sorts of ew.

4. I thought she was riding him at first, but I'm not sure if she'd be able to do that and be in the position she's on at once.

5. *dies* These covers aren't great, but this one is even more poorly put together than the others! The model and her clothes are too bright and obviously weren't blended.

7. Whatever she's wearing, I'll take two of it!

10. A) What's wrong with space; B) What's wrong with his neck; C) OH MY GOD, THAT'S KRISTEN STEWART'S FACE. ASDFGHJKL;

16. HORSIES! :D

21. Let's find that waffle place and go together because there must be magic in those waffles. I want magic waffles!

23. This one looks like an adult fiction cover to me, but nonetheless, I WANT IT. The book sounds like fun.

24. I want this cover plz.

4. That would be when they're flying off to the Department of Mysteries for the massive showdown that Sirius dies in. :D God, I love these new covers. They're really well-done.

5. *bonks US designers* Bad designers! Bad! CONSISTENCY.

10. *bonks US designers harder* ...I think I hit them too hard. They're twitching.

2. The storm says apocalypse, the faces say soap opera. (I don't actually know what these books are about, even though I own the first one. This cover just confuses me.)

3. I can't think of one good reason to wear a jacket with no shirt on. Daemon, you look like an idiot. (Do people see this cover and swoon? I can just laugh at it.)

9. "What did you do yesterday?" "I posed for a book cover! Look, this is me." "...I don't see it. Liar."

10. Am I the only one who thinks the girl looks dead? This makes that guy a creep, floating over a dead girl like that.

11. I wish someone would let me on the set of one of those book cover shoots. I'll be the one carrying all the hair bands.

14. ANOTHER dead girl. There is obviously a mass murderer in book cover land.

15. HEY THIS IS COOL! Different covers FTW. And minotaurs FTW.

16. This could be a sequel to the minotaur cover! I love the colors.

24. *pats the pretty* loooove this!

Cover Battle 1. WHY redesign? The original wasn't, well, original, but this one is just weird.

4. They are flying to the Ministry to stop Voldemort from killing Sirius. SERIOUSLY HOW DID YOU NOT KNOW THIS. Also. I have decided I need all the redesigns. I don't have the original US covers, so that means I NEED an American set, right? RIGHT?

8. I HAVE FOUND THE KILLER! It's THAT dude. He's creepy and he's gonna kill her. And then she'll end up on another cover. *nods*

9. GET IT AWAY FROM MEEEEEEEEEE.

WTF 2. hahahahahahahahaha.

2. Hmm, I don't like any of the covers for this series.

3. I totally made a comment about the no shirt plus jacket thing in my upcoming WoW post! I want this book, but that cover...No no no!

5. I feel like I see this girl everywhere! I really don't get the outfit...

13. Woah...I kind of like it!

18. Why is she wearing cargo pants and a studded belt??? Very out of place...

20. I love the font.

25. Loooove! It's my favorite color!

Battles.
1. I don't really like either, but the font is nice. The guy looks like he enjoys having his chin tickled a little too much...

2,3,4. I definitely like the new ones better.

5. Definitely UK.

6,7,8. I like the redesign better. The boxes on the original make it look too busy.

1. This is cute!

2. A: I don't like this cover at all. B: Changing covers mid series really pisses me off.

3. I don't think this looks like the other covers at all and I will never understand the jacket without a shirt thing. Why even bother?

6. Lol, I bet there is at least one incidence of not realizing they were holding their breath is this book.

9. This dress looks like a hodge podge of dresses. And I always want to hand these girls a hair tie. I can't stand hair in my face!

11. She needs a hair tie too.

14. I feel like this picture is off. Like you can see she's laying on the ground but the sky in the background looks like it's too far off.

15. Maybe he's pushing her out the way?

19. I find this really creepy. Goblins are creepy in general. Even the Harry Potter goblins creeped me out.

25. My eyes! My eyes! I'm curious if this will be this bright in real life, or if it's a computer thing.

CB2. WANT IT!!!! When I saw this one I kind of freaked out because I think it is so freaking gorgeous. Not that I need another copy but...

CB3. While I like the original covers (especialy compared to, the British original covers) I like these ones more. Though I also really like the "adult" covers too.

CB5. UK all the way! I don't like all those blurbs on the cover.

CB13. I am not a fan of orange but it's a much more eye catching cover than the other one.

WTF2. So my memory is not awesome, but I feel like this is the WTF of the year thus far.

3. "Also, apparently girls need to be saved. By bad boys in their leather jackets with their anger management issues. Sigh." Yeah...that pretty much says it all.

5. I thought Bjork's swan dress too. She also looks like she'd doing a strange Bjork dance.

9. That dress is so confusing. Why are her hips caught in a net?

10. Yeah, she looks dead. AND OH LOOK RED HAIR HOW UNUSUAL

15. Illustrated cover! POC! Minotaur!

16. This illustrated cover is even better!

18. These covers are so awkward. I mean, that is a modern girl who got dragged to a Ren Faire, and someone threw a cloak over her to make her look period appropriate.

19. I need a miniature dirigible.

20. THAT'S the face they chose?! I... *also moves on*

21. UGH why don't we have Waffle Houses in Caliornia. I want one more than life right now.

23. It's gorgeous, and I like the title, but it also looks like she's about to commit suicide.

24. LOVE.

25. I HATE THIS. What a vile, poisonous color. Ouch.

CB2 UGH IT'S SO PRETTY LOOK AT ITTTT

CB3 Aw, I like Harry's derp face. And Krum all secretive, Fleur all sexy, and... Cedric has very lame hair.

CB4. Best one yet. THEY'RE ON THE THESTRALS YOU CRAZY PERSON. FLYING OFF TO THE MINISTRY.

CB9. Love the Sekret. Am going to need therapy due to the worms.

CB11. *drools over the Tor cover*

WTF1: Bite's. Bite's. BITE'S.

WTF2: BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

OMG "As long as they realize they are breathing..." I love how you tied that in there! The Death Face book and the new JLA one are just terrible covers. As I saw the new JLA one this week I actually LOLed at my computer, so bad. Also, can we get away from this guy?? He is freaking everywhere and all the covers he is on just end up looking so generic now!

It has been a long time since I commented on a Cover Snark post. I'm not really doing anything today, so I think I should!!

1. I love this cover. I do agree with you, but covers like this really draw my eye. In fact, I prefer bright covers that don't have people in them the most.

2. Yeah, I don't understand. I thought this was a novella cover at first. It's boring!

3. I am so OVER this guy on covers. Not even kidding. This is the cheesiest one I've seen yet!

4. Trying to say something nice. I like the typography!

5. LOL this is the book that Giselle hates. That cover is awful, as is the other one in this series.

6. In my opinion, the background is too light and I am not a fan of the typography. It looks too much like a business font.

8. Hey, it's the Partials cover! OH WAIT...

9. My favorite part of this is the font by far. But I don't hate the rest. Well done cover.

10. Uhhh. That is a dead stare. She looks like a corpse.

12. Is that a ball? I thought it was a throwing star, at first. Either way, if you can't tell what it is, it's probably not a good idea.

14. Mostly not a fan. But I do like the little plant coming out of the ground.

15. I really like this one. Something seems off about her face though. Still, I WOULD pick this book up at a store.

16. Beautiful cover. Not a book I would likely read, but that is a gorgeous illustration.

17. I'm bored.

18. I HATE IT. I don't like ANY of these covers (the UK ones are okay) but this one is the cheesiest to me. Ugh.

19. I really like this one. Steampunk fantasy? Hell yeah!

21. Surprisingly, I do like the background. But another couple embracing? YAWN.

22. Oh, it's the floating head again.

24. Gorgeous cover. Animated covers, as long as they are done well, are some of my favorites. Love the colors here.

25. My retinas are burning too, but in a good way. ;) I really like this. It's super unique and minimalist and I like it.

CB2, 3, &4: It's okay to like both the same, I think. The first for nostalgic reasons. The new ones are beautiful as well.

CB9: I actually like the worm cover A LOT. Not for this book maybe, but for a horror novel? SO CREEPY and gross. I like the real cover for this as well.

CB11. My favorite cover of the week goes to the TOR redesign. It's AMAZINGGGGG.

CB12: It's hardly changed! And if possible, gotten cheesier!

WTF1: AGHHHHH! A grammatical ERROR! But you made me laugh so we are all good here!

1. I just don't get what the hardware that spells the title has to do with Sunshine or Lucky, but I suppose I could go read the synopsis.

2. I don't like that it doesn't look like the other two!!

5. I think she needs some other clothes. She's been wearing the same dress in different colors. It seems it would be more practical to fight for your life not in a dress too.

6. Hahaha!! You totally rock with that comment!!

7. Wouldn't it be easier to remove his clothes by just pulling. Seems the twisting and turning would be working against her.

13. Lol!! Before I read what you wrote I was thinking major acid trip in the 70's

17. Ohhh!! Retelling!!!

18. What's with the cargo pants?!

21. OMG MAGIC WAFFLES!!!

Cover Battles

2, 3, & 4. I like the new covers. I also like the new "adult look cover that I saw!!

9. OMG the worms!!! *runs away*

10. Wait!!! Keeping her is still supposed to be a Garrick/Bliss book right? Why is it a different couple?!! Maybe they are the same and just look different...

2: It might be. Wasn't Tempest supposed to be one of their main titles that the pub spent a lot of money on and that's why there was that huge controversy? Either way, I actually don't like the cover, if this is a redesign. The green and the red and the random snippets of their faces doesn't work very well, IMO :(.

3: LOL yeah. My first thought was: this is SO different from the other covers. Do shirtless guys in leather jackets sell more or something?? (What's up with the look in his eyes, actually? He looks possessed.)

6: But no one ever does... it's the evil of the world.

7: Sleeves like that almost remind me of the Victorian age and the glimpse of an ankle/wrist. Interesting that she's the one ripping his clothes and not the other way around too :O.

9: The dress makes her look pregnant... now there's a cipher...

10: the guy looks like he's going to eat her... also I never understand blurbs like that. What use is it to print something like "I am obsessed with this book/I need more Core Carmack/Kimberly P. Chase is a gem." Really?

15: I really like the painted field...but those hands creep the fuckp out of me. Disproportionately large compared to Minotaur's face.

17: If it had thorns, it would remind me too much of the Freudian analysis of fairy tales.

22: Yes. Stock image covers make me think that the pub doesn't care much about that title.

23: The mad, wicked folly is that she'll suffocate the city beneath her with that dress train.

#2: Really??!? I like the old one better 'cause I think the new one is really hard to read her name, for one, and also too reminiscent of the movie scene.

#3: Also look at the dragon's face. Whut.

#4: This one is really good. I think this is when they're headed to the ministry on the thestrals.

#5: And the blurbs aren't all that helpful. The only one that might be is the last one.

#6: Every time I see the black and white and red front, it makes me think they're trying to imitate Wait for You by J. Lynn 'cause that one was really successful. #6/7/8: Point in case.

3. The outfit is stupid, but I'm kinda diggin' the stubble. More boys need stubble.

4 "Yes it is simple, but wouldn't know perfection if it gave it a lapdance." Oh, is that what she's doing?

8. I'm too busy staring at the building on the right. I KNOW that building. Where is she, London?

11. She certainly doesn't look very chaotic.

12. Help! He's going to destroy us all with... a makeup puff?

13. This should have been a WTF for sure.

14. And of course here comes the wee little sprig coming up from the dry ground. OF COURSE.

15. Is he protecting her? Is he really a minotaur? Maybe this is a retelling of Beauty and the Beast with a minority Belle! Oh, that would be so cool. Anything less would be a disappointment now.

16. This is so 80s. Pass.

18. I'm too busy shuddering at those awful flowers. Seriously, I hate them.

21. Do the quotes seem oddly placed to you? It's like the designer was like "Yeah, here's fine. Whatever. Let's go get some waffles."

CB11. WOW. WOW WOW WOW.

WTF2. Take it AWAAAAAAAAAY!!! Eek.

2. Not only is this cover hideous, it's irritatingly inconsistent. While the female model's neck and body continue throughout the "R" and "M" on the second line, the boy seems to have been decapitated by the letter "T". Pick a style, cover. Either their faces are contained within a single letter or they're not!

3. Absolutely cringe-worthy. If it's cold enough for a jacket, here's a novel idea: Pop on a shirt next time. Your washboard abs will not keep you warm at night. He reminds me of men who spends months 'perfectly' their bodies, and then spend every subsequent moment of their lives searching for any excuse to display their assets at every available opportunity. I suspect the cover model might become a little too distracted by his reflection in a mirror and forget to 'save' the girl in the process. Better hide all nearby reflective objects, just to be safe.

6. "Breathe in. Breathe out." When a cover feels the need to remind potential readers of the fundamental necessity of oxygen, I don't have much faith in the ensuing story.

7. Why is he wearing a suit jacket and tie but no shirt? Is there some sort of shirt shortage in the world I don't know about!? It seems to be plaguing male cover models everywhere!

9. Terrifying. It honestly appears as though she has no face.

12. God awful. From the ugly text to the hideous colour palette, I wouldn't even know where to begin when it came to listing the problems I have with this cover. It's a mess.

14: Subtitled: When bad photoshopping happens to good people. Her face has been painfully overworked.

15. Awesome, apart from the disembodied hands. Is it weird that I want to file down those nails? They look awful.

20. Lovely font treatment, absolutely terrifying cover model. I scrolled past as quickly as I could.

23. Subtitle: The giant girl who destroyed London. Whoever designed that cover needs to learn a thing or two about perspective.

Conclusion: I need all of the new Harry Potter covers in my life immediately. I will likely even buy a box set if there's one available (Despite the fact that I already own the entire series). I am officially a girl obsessed.

1. Also reminds me of Sea Change. Is that a pipe? Is this about plumbers? Lol
2. Yeah as much as I think this isn't bad (although what's up with the R) by book 3 they should all be matching.
6. hahaha Hopefully not holding of the breath in this book.
8. This is so a redo of Partials and 5th Wave.
12. What is in his hand? I totally have a dish scrubber in my kitchen that looks exactly like that.
16. That cover is GORGEOUS. I love the swirling colors in the background.
20. Why the need to combine books 1 and 2? Dumb.
21. Mmmmm... waffles... syrup.
25. Couldn't they have made the title and author name at least a different non-blinding color? Gah.
Cover Battles
1. I find both of these equally lame.
2. Okay I really love the swirling dementors. But that stag totally looks like a moose.
3. This one is meh... they made the dragon a touch too demonic looking.
4. I LOVE THIS ONE. I'm totally doing a re-read at the end of the year... a bunch of us are if you want to join in. :)
5. I don't understand why half the cover is taken up by blurbs though?
9. OMG WORMS. WHY!?
11. Wow. Am so in love with that new design. Tor makes some seriously badass covers.

Okay, the worms cover almost made me gag. UGHHHH. Other than that, the Nikki Loftin book has the most beautiful cover ever. And I Breathe You? BWAHAHA.

3. I'll never say this again, but this is the best cover of the bunch. And that makes me sad.

4. You mean, she's not perfection? Because it looks like she's giving him that lapdance.

5. That is a death face. My interest in this book died with the very present vapidity of her face.

8. Oh nos! Lightning!

10. Ginger Hair Nebula FTW!

13. It's a bird. It's a butterfly-head. It's frightening!

15. I have no idea why, but I just laughed and spit all over my computer when I saw this. There must be a gas leak somewhere... *looks around*

16. Elizabeth Bear has won me over with her short stories. I am looking forward to this.

18. Did they have cargo pants in fantasy/medieval times?

19. *makes grabby hands*

20. Why don't they just put Liv Tyler on the front and be done with it?

24. I am so glad that I have internet peeps who know about Miyazaki because I always get crickets when I talk about his movies.

CB4. Oh no! I can see the thestrals!

CB11. Tor wins everything for always. They have the best artists and short stories and EVERYTHING. *sighs*

CB12. I hate this cover for making that stupid techno song that won't die suddenly get stuck in my head.

CB14. *sniggers* I still can't read the book because I can't get past the fact that she's a treasure troll.
