Cover Reveal Thursday (3)

Confessions of an Angry Girl - Louise Rozett
Thoughts: Rozett is a debut author that I will definitely be checking out, having been a rather angry girl myself. Plus, I really like this cover! The hair color, the colors, the slants and the tension in her hand as she pulls on the necklace are all great. I also love that she looks like a real girl, wearing a plain, not even fitted, shirt.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone - Laini Taylor
Thoughts: This is the paperback cover for the book. Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of any of the covers of this book. I think I like the hardback one best, just for the colors. What I do like about this one is that it has a book on it. Are you shocked?

Taste - Kate Evangelista
Thoughts: It probably comes as a surprise to no one that I like this cover, considering that it has a pretty dress, red hair (although styled differently than most covers, which is cool!) and fancy font. I'm planning to wait and see what other bloggers say in their reviews before I read this one, but definitely good work on the cover!

After Dark - Emi Gayle
Thoughts: Okay, so I usually don't read books from small publishers, largely because of the covers...they tend to be very obviously done without much money or time. This one, though, is pretty great! I love the girl. She's gorgeous, but also looks like she could kick your ass and she looks like she might have an ethnicity beyond white, so yay diversity.

What I Didn't Say - Keary Taylor
Thoughts: TOO. MUCH. YELLOW. It looks like they both have jaundice. Otherwise, I also don't like that the focus is on their eyebrows, which are just not the most attractive part of any face. For me this cover is made of fail.

Other Worlds Than These - John Joseph Adams, ed.
Thoughts: Not a YA cover, folks, but this is my blog, so I do what I want! Ahem. I read one of the other anthologies edited by John Joseph Adams (Brave New Worlds) and enjoyed it. Based on the names on the cover of this one, I think I'll be checking it out. I like the cover, except for the kid. Who's surprised?

Sacrifice - Cayla Kluver
Thoughts: The first cover is still the 'prettiest' perhaps. What I love about these covers is how much the growth of Alera as a person. In the first, she's lounging and passive, even if her personality shows in her face. In the second, she's on a horse, but she's still being taken somewhere by a guy. In this one, she is turning to glare at you, and she's definitely the focus, even though a man stands behind her. She also looks like a force to be reckoned with. So looking forward to this, even though I know it's probably going to break my heart again!
