Cover Reveal Roundup (13)

Guys, there were so many cover reveals this week, and I even liked some of them! I know which are my favorites, but make sure to tell me which you like best (regardless of whether I made fun of it are not...covers are very subjective) in the comments!

Through the Ever Night (Under the Never Sky #2) - Veronica Rossi
Thoughts: These definitely match well. I think the girl looks a bit more badass than the guy, but oh well. I love the color combo on this one just as much. Seriously, though, why is his shirt so slanty? Also, LOVE UNDER SIEGE!!! *dies laughing*

Fae (Elemental Trilogy #2) - Emily White
Thoughts: Wow...I thought the first one was bad. This one looks fancier, but good lord what is this thing? Blergh.

Requiem (Delirium Trilogy #3) - Lauren Oliver
Thoughts: Though I preferred the original Delirium cover, I really like these as a series. The flowers, while not precisely linked to the plot of the book work, since they're a symbol of romance. I also always approve of when the same model is used for all of the covers in the series. Requiem is my least favorite in three, because the model's making a duck face. I think the one for Delirium is best because you can see her neck.

If You Find Me - Emily Murdoch
Thoughts: Meh. It's very Caroline B. Cooney. This feels slightly old-school to me, like late 90s, early 2000s.

Fragments (Partials #2) - Dan Wells
Thoughts: Love. This is so cool. She's standing with a guy now, still wearing the same clothes. I'm not sure if it's the same model, since the hair is different. I like how similar the posing is, and I think the colors and the water are so cool!

A Touch Menacing (A Touch Trilogy #3) - Leah Clifford
Thoughts: I've never loved these covers. I do like her colored hair, but I don't like the makeup. Meh. Just not my style.

Impostor (Slide #2) - Jill Hathaway
Thoughts: Well, it does look like the first book, but I do not like this coloring at all.

Dead Silence (The Body Finder #4) - Kimberly Derting
Thoughts: FLOWERS.

Cover Battle: Diabolical (Tantalize #4) - Cynthia Leitich Smith
US vs. UK: actually, I hate both, but I'm going with simple over woman splashed with blood with another woman behind her. Weird.

Mila 2.0 (Mila 2.0 #1) - Debra Driza
Thoughts: I is want. This is awesome. Reminds me of The Adoration of Jenna Fox, but I think this is much better done. Anyone want to give me a copy of this pretty? Haha.

The Watcher - Lisa Voisin
Thoughts: Bahahaha. She has tiny wings tattooed on her back. And real feathers floating around her. And birds busting out of her head. I can't even.

White Lines - Jennifer Banash
Thoughts: I feel like I've seen this cover before. It looks pretty much exactly like some other cover, but I don't remember which one. This bugs me.

A Corner of White (The Colours of Madeleine) - Jaclyn Moriarty
Thoughts: Markus Zusak thinks it's brilliant? READING It. Even if the cover does very little for me.

 Spellcaster - Claudia Gray
Thoughts: I like it. The swirls and font are pretty, and I like the muted tone to it. I'm not so sure about the fact that her dress seems to be made entirely of tulle, but oh well.

Pretty Girl-13 - Liz Coley
Thoughts: I'm not a hundred percent sure this is the actual cover, since I can't find any sort of comments about a cover reveal, but I found this up in Goodreads. It's kind of cool in a horror sort of way, so it could be. *shrug*

Revenge of the Girl with the Great Personality - Elizabeth Eulberg
Thoughts: This is not what I was expecting AT ALL. This looks like an adult chick lit cover. Like this one.

The Casual Vacancy - J. K. Rowling
Thoughts: Yawn. Watching the reactions to this was hilarious though.

ReAwakened (Angel Creek #2) - Ada Adams
Thoughts: Boys on book covers strike again. Pardon me while I lol endlessly. He looks like a character from Brave or Tangled.

The Flame in the Mist - Kit Grindstaff
Thoughts: She has rats on her shoulders! Rats with red eyes. That is horrifying. And her eyes are definitely unnaturally blue. She's also surrounded by ghosts or zombies. There is a castle in the mist, but no flame. This cover begs a lot of questions.

Shards & Ashes - Melissa Marr & Kelley Armstrong (and Others)
Thoughts: I like all of this cover, EXCEPT for the figure, which looks strange if you look at the cover in the really big size (hint: click on it and you'll see the full size image) and the title font. I love the shimmery water and tree in the background.

Scarlet (Lunar Chronicles #2) - Marissa Meyer
Thoughts: This dovetails nicely with the first cover, and clearly gets the Little Red Riding Hood aspect across. Can I say, though, how much I hate when USA Today has the cover reveal? It sucks, because they won't let anyone else have an image bigger than this. What jerks!

Witch Born (Witch Song #2) - Amber Argyle
Thoughts: I like this one better than the first, since the girl looks like she's wearing a crown of thorns on that one because of the tree limb placement. Butterflies = better.

Hysteria - Megan Miranda
Thoughts: I declare this to be AWESOME. They're playing with gestalt psychology, which is pretty freaking cool. Plus, it seems to be slyly poking fun at the trend of cutting off girl's heads on YA book covers.

Cover Battle: Stolen Nights (Vampire Queen #2) - Rebecca Maizel
Original vs. Redesign: Sorry for the tiny photo for the redesign, but I couldn't find a larger image. Although the new one appeals to me more personally, I think the previous one matches better with the paperback Infinite Days cover, so unless they redesign that one too, I'm awarding the win to the first cover.

My favorite is Hysteria. I think I'd read that based on title alone, but I do love the cover, and the synopsis sounds like something I'd love. Everyone is fawning over the Through the Whatever Night cover, but I just... lolled, around on the floor. That guy is 30 - or older, who knows? He's got some sort of hip displacement.

*sigh* No covers blew me away this week. In fact, one of them made me sad. (I won't say which one because the internet remembers all.) I guess Fragments wins for me, with Scarlet bringing up second. MILA 2.0 is okay, but I see it becoming outdated fairly quickly. Also, I totally snorted when you accused Requiem of the duck face. When will they stop DOING THAT?! >.<

I seriously think whoever created the covers for the Elemental series needs some glasses. I didn't like the first (because damn that girl is PALE...and she looks like an alien) but the 2nd one--not only are the colors a mess, but the girl is a blur--and the typography isn't aligned.

I'm happy to see Fragment's cover--but I'm not liking guy that looks like he is taking a casual tour (and the background and foreground doesn't even blend together, as if I cut a picture of people and just pasted it on top) But I admit the colors are interesting.

Witch Born's cover had me staring for a full minute before I could tear my eyes away--whoever painted that has some serious skill. I love how the eyes rveal a bit of vunerability.

A Casual Vacancy is such a letdown. *sigh*

Hysteria was my number two for sure. I just really like way they did Mila 2.0. It is exactly what Adoration of Jenna Fox should have been. Also, I love blue.

Right? And the way his shirt is open. *rolls on floor laughing hysterically*

You will have to DM me the one that made you sad. I must know!

Fragments is pretty good, and so is Scarlet, but they didn't grab me as much as a couple others.

Right? The duck face will be pointed out by someone on the internet, so stop doing it!

Agreed on the Elemental series. They're pretty much so ugly that unless I see a couple of rave reviews from bloggers I trust, it's not happening. I shouldn't judge them just off that, but...

OMG, you're so right. The messenger bag does kind of make it look like he's just late for class. And they should probably be dirty or something if they've been wandering around a destroyed world?

Witch Born is definitely a good example of a drawn cover. I generally prefer photos, but they did a good job there.

Yup. But I was expecting that.

Lots of "meh" and downright bad this week, but still a few good ones. I like Through the Ever Night, Mila 2.0, Shards & Ashes, Scarlet, and Hysteria. I love your comments underneath all of these, though! Haha ;-)

Yay! Glad you like my snark! I don't mind if people disagree with me, so thankfully haven't gotten in trouble for it yet. *crosses fingers*
