Top Ten Tuesday Redux: Blogger Love

For once, I remembered that Tuesday was coming and went ahead and wrote my post early. Usually, I start reading blog posts in Google Reader, get to Good Books and Good Wine's Top Ten Tuesday post, and frantically flail to get mine written ASAP. I was SO proud of myself for remembering, and made up a list of authors I wanted to meet, because I didn't want to combine the two and figured the bloggers I want to meet would be obvious. BUT then I started reading posts this morning and seriously felt the blogger love, and OMG I love it. Even though these bloggers probably will not be surprised to find themselves on this list, I know I always love compliments, so I'm doing it anyway, because I am moved by the love I feel this morning and want to share it.

This list is in alphabetical order by blog and will have as many people on it as I want it to, because this isn't a popularity contest. I would love to meet every single one of these lovely people, preferably to go have tasty drinks and talk books.

Alluring Reads
Jenni of Alluring Reads
I first met Jenni through Twitter, as she's Giselle's BFF. Giselle did a twitter call to help get Jenni to some amount of followers (300? 500? *shrug*), since she was just one or two away, so I scanned her content briefly and followed. We've been acquainted and exchanged comments from time to time since then. Recently, though, we've become blogging besties, all because of her review of Kody Keplinger's The DUFF, which she loathed and I quite liked. After a brief talk about that on Twitter, I wrote her a LONG ASS COMMENT about why I liked it, which I hadn't done before for fear of making her mad. That instance has shown us that we have a true friendship that can survive differing opinions, which is good since we don't always agree. :) I love being able to have healthy discussions with Jenni about books, even if we don't quite get what the other saw in a book. Oh, also, you should know that her vlogs are great. I always look forward to watching her book haul posts.

Kat of The Aussie Zombie
Well, I would love to meet this girl, but she lives in freaking Europe! I can't get there without crossing a freaking ocean! BUT I do want to go to Europe more, so there's that. ;) First off, Kat has one of the best blog names ever. It sums her up perfectly. I'm pretty sure I first followed her blog because I thought her blog name was hilarious. Kat also backs the name up. Some bloggers have a genre name, but don't really seem to specialize in it that much, but looking at zombie books on GR, you will be hard pressed to find ones she hasn't read or doesn't plan to read. If you have questions about zombie fiction, she's your girl. That's not all she reads, though. She also regularly makes me crave historical fiction. Kat is lovely, and, according to GR, she's second closest to me in reading taste of the people I know right now. Like me, it appears she may not have a button.

Kayla of Bibliophilia, Please
Way back when, before I really got involved in the blogosphere, I spent a brief period of time as a giveaway hopper. I followed a few blogs through that, most of which I have since unfollowed because I hated their reviews when I actually read them. Kayla's is one of the few that I didn't later remove from my Google Reader, and I'm glad for that period of time for the couple of blogs that I did locate that way. Kayla and I chat all the time on Twitter, and I love how saucy and non-PC she is. This girl will talk about ANYTHING. Seriously, you could probably ask her any question and she would tell you the answer straight up, and I love that about her. She doesn't worry about taboos or what other people think and it's fabulous. Also, her reviews, when she writes them are long and excellent for librarian use, objective and full of information. She also recently changed up her review format and I love the new way!

Bibliosaurus Text
Audrey of Bibliosaurus Text
The other blog that remains from my blog hopping days is Bibliosaurus Text. Audrey's really nice and answered all of my questions when I unloaded a barrage of them on her post about BEA back when I was trying to decide whether I should go. She's supportive, nice, and another always honest blogger. Another thing I really love about her blog is that she reads primarily books I've never heard of. While many of them aren't ones I would be interested in, sometimes I find new books to add to my list and that's always great.

Katie of Blook Girl
Katie is such a freaking sweetheart, and I am not just saying that because so far I've won two of her giveaways. lol. She has the honor of being the Goodreads friend with the most similar taste to mine, resting around the 80% mark. We generally agree on young adult books, so I suspect we may have some differences in our ratings of classics from school days. Anyway, I adore her reviews. She does such a wonderful job of pointing out analytically issues with books and reasons why they're strong. If I read a book first and then read her review of it, I almost always find something I'd vaguely considered and forgotten about that she has taken and run with. It's amazing. We could totally have the best book discussions ever. She's been a bit quiet on her blog today, and if she quits blogging on me, I will find her in Texas and drag her back to her computer. I miss your reviews, Katie! OMG, internet magic. I went to her blog RIGHT NOW to get the link and a new review is there! YES. The first in like half a month. My heart can't take this, Katie. Katie's button freaked my post out like whoa, so not adding that right now.

Pixie of The Bookaholic
It took me way longer than it should have to go find Pixie's blog after I befriended her on Twitter. She found me, actually, through some mutual acquaintance or other, probably Kara. We chat all the time on Twitter and I've been enjoying her blog posts ever since I found her blog in the last couple of weeks. We are bonding over a mutual disappointment with Maggie Stiefvater's books. She's also really good about enjoying books that many of the rest in the blogosphere didn't, giving me more hope for them, since they're generally buried in my NG review mountain. Recently, as in last week, I learned that Pixie also has books, which I have added to Goodreads and will need to check out someday...

Cuddlebuggery Book Blog
Kat & Stephanie & Archer (Sometimes) of Cuddlebuggery
This blogging team NEVER fails to entertain. They're all completely hilarious reviewers and I really do not know how the website does not break from an overdoes of awesome. Kat Kennedy's Buzzworthy News feature is always the highlight of my Monday. They all tweet completely ridiculous things for the enjoyment of the world and if you don't follow them, you're missing out on much joy. I'm pretty certain that if I HAD a bucket list, number one on the list would be 'travel to Australia to drink far too much with Kat Kennedy and Jay Kristoff.'

Great Imaginations
Kara of Great Imaginations
I freaking love Kara. She's so opinionated and honest and completely herself at all times. If a book makes her angry, she will explain precisely why and do the same if she loves a book. I actually think I first found her through Twitter, which seems to be how I do it these days. We probably tweeted through a mutual friend and I thought she was awesome so I found her blog and loved that too. Her reviews are among my favorites without a doubt. They tend to be lengthy and both analytical and personal. We bonded over our mutual dislike of social interaction and love of books. Oh, and My Little Pony: Frienship is Magic. Also, she's one of the most supportive bloggers out there. I know that if I ever get trolled or unfairly attacked, I can count on Kara to have my back and that is so comforting.

The Midnight GardenWendy Darling & K. of The Midnight Garden
Right after I found Wendy's blog and started reading it, she stopped blogging for a while, because of all of that insanely stupid stuff that went down with The Selection. For obvious reasons, she was scared away from blogging for a time, but she came BACK recently which made me so happy. Her reviews are insightful, as are her co-blogger K's, and pretty much pieces of literary brilliance in and of themselves. Their interviews always ask unique questions, which means I actually read them. The Midnight Garden's reviews are honest, witty, well-written and lengthy. Also, Wendy's Goodreads shelves are extensive, well-cataloged, and have served me well for research purposes.

Bekka of Pretty Deadly Reviews Goodreads
Sadly, Bekka quit blogging very recently. I loved her blog and was very sad to see it go, but that was something that Bekka had to do to make sure that the drama and the stress didn't impact her love of reading. She's going back to old school reading, aka not for review. Thankfully, she's still on Goodreads, so I can find out her opinons still, which is VERY important to me. She's also on Twitter, where we talk constantly about all of the worst covers we can find. If you follow us both, you're in for a hilarious treat. We are both firm believers that naked men, angel wings and butterflies should pretty much never be used on a book cover.

Aubra of Unabridged Chick
Aubra's a brand-spanking new addition to my blog roster. I found her when I made the incredibly brilliant decision to actually go read some of the other posts on a blog tour I was a part of. The book was a strange one (Before the Rain) and I wanted to see some other reactions to it. The first blog I looked at thought Before the Rain was the best ever, a five star read, and, while that's a valid opinion, it's not mine. I looked at Aubra's next and it struck a chord with me, since she had a similar reaction, only hers was much better written. This girl uses her tongue pertier than a twenty dollar whore. (Note: before y'all freak out, this is a quote, and if you know from what movie then we should be besties.) I've read a few more reviews since then and Aubra is incredibly brilliant. Her diction just wows me every time. I'm always like I know that word and it's PERFECT, so why didn't I think of it AHHH. Another thing I love about Aubra? She reads adult fiction, so her blog will keep me from craving YA exclusively, which is crucial. Again, I couldn't find a button.

Xpresso ReadsGiselle of Xpresso Reads
Giselle has been blogging for a year; seriously, it's her blogoversary right now and you should go celebrate with her and enter her giveaways. It's seriously mind blowing how much she has accomplished in that year and I just cannot imagine the blogosphere without her. She won the Nicest Blogger award in the Bloggy Awards, and she deserves it one hundred percent. She always responds to messages on Twitter and comments on like every blog ever. In a year, she's accumulated well over three thousand followers, and though I have like twelve percent of the followers in over twice the time, I cannot even be jealous of her, because she earns and deserves all of the acclaim she's got. She reads more than most bloggers and her reviews are always full of her personal opinion and generally call my attention to things I didn't personally notice. Our tastes are pretty different, but I always like finding out what she thought. Oh, and pretty much every review she writes has at least one spittake worthy line hidden in it, so you really don't want to skim and miss that.

THE DUFF! Yay for me hating it I guess, as it brought us together. I loved our talk that day telling eachother that we will never think of it as trolling.

This post going around today is awesome! There is so much blogger love today, it's great. I'm so happy to be talking to you more even though we don't always agree to! That's the best part about what we do though right? I'm all about the debate!

I think it's a sign my giveaway hopping is going to far when I'm already subscribed to all of these bloggers.

Oh yes, Cuddlebuggery is HILARIOUS, they always make my day even if I don't agree with some of their reviews.
And Unabridged Chick, I always turn to them for adult fiction reviews (usually TLC books)...andbecausetheyhavegiveawaysin90%oftheirposts. Yes, I' a greedy book hoarder like that.

OMG, I forgot you. Let the record reflect that I also love Lillian, commenter extraordinaire. I will blame my lapse-mindedness on the fact that you don't blog during the school year like ever. Yup. Not my fault, obviously, because I am perfect. O_O

You are a greedy book hoarder. Haha.

Exactly! But it's always a little unsure at first, because you don't want to say the wrong thing and have someone you thought was a buddy declare war. So glad I don't have to worry about that with you guys!

I am trying to keep my obsession in check! I deleted like ten book blog subscription emails with giveaways I didn't care for! Before, I would be like "It's just a click on Rafflecopter! Let's just enter anyway! lalalalala"

ON THE OTHER HAND, I happened to win a book from Penguin yesterday which I must've entered AGES ago. TIME TO SEE IF THOSE WHITE PENGUIN PACKAGES DO HAVE A TAB THINGY FOR ME TO YANK!

Whoa! What a sweet and awesome surprise! Thanks :-D I do hope we get to meet in person someday, and was thinking that last night when I was watching your latest mailbox video.

Also, I'm definitely going to be checking out the other bloggers you listed here because you've already vetted them and deemed them worthy.

Totally agree with you about your blogger love, especially Katie from Blookgirl Reviews. :) I've had lots of fun getting to hang with her (helps living in the same city, let alone state), and I'm REALLY happy to have found another fan of The Last Unicorn. :D She's definitely a blogger I love talking books with, and she's always insightful on her reviews. Don't worry, if she ever fell off the face of the Internet, I'd find and bring her back! lol

Awww, yay! Too bad we didn't find each other at BEA. Sometimes it's a serious pain not having internet on my phone. I missed a lot of people because I couldn't find them. :(

You should check them out. They're all awesomesauce, obvs!

So jealous of how many book bloggers live in Texas. Also, you guys get so many events!

I love The Last Unicorn, well, the movie anyway. It was totes my fav as a child. Haven't read the book yet though....

Bahaha, I could do that some day. My post went crazy toward the end, like literally it was moving! And so I got the preview to look right and hit submit as fast as I could, because I didn't want it to shift anymore. O_O

What book did you win?

September 18, 2012 at 2:17 PM
Blogger Christina said...

I used to do that enter because it's easy thing sometimes or enter by accident, and INVARIABLY I win the things I don't want. I accidentally won a swag giveaway recently. I LOATHE swag only giveaways. Sigh. Oh well. There's no way to UNenter a giveaway, which sucks.

I won The Best Night of Your (Pathetic) Life by Tara Altebrando, a giveaway I entered just for the heck of it. I wanted to have a summer read...kinda late now. I also won this non-fiction book called Ironman from Penguin awhile ago...still hasn't arrived, but I don't care enough to email them about it. *only wants the white package*

I don't care for swag either. A first I was like *O* "BOOKMARKS! I LOVE BOOKMARKS!"...but then I find myself just using scraps of paper lying around and my bookmarks are collecting dust in a drawer.

I would love a Stormdancer bookmark though, I love Jason Chan's artwork to bits. So badass!

*dies* What in the world?! :-P

Umm, you forgot to add, "Kayla is very backward and cannot read social situations, so she is sure to say something that will make everyone uncomfortable - except for her - because she is completely oblivious."

I do love - "Also, her reviews, when she writes them are long and excellent for librarian use, objective and full of information." *giggles* I should be so ashamed of myself. :-D

I'm going to finish reading this post after I get over being embarrassed (and flattered - sue me), and I am definitely heading over to follow all of these blogs.

Oh, I totes entered for that book and did not win and shrugged. Haha.

I do love bookmarks and I do use them, but I have SO many. I would enter for a Stormdancer bookmark though. :-p

Haha, whatever. Kayla is AWESOME.

I love that you noticed this line. Haha, we were just talking about how lazy you are sometimes. :-p Also, I could read MORE reviews. ;)

Awwww, you should!

Blogger Kayla Beck said...

I followed them all. I have been writing more reviews now that things are simmering down at work a little. Unfortunately, some of them I can't post for a while. That always seems to be my problem. When I'm in a dry spell on my blog, I'm usually waiting for a time closer to a release date. Then I forget that I've read a book for that month and that the review needs to be posted. Then I don't have reviews, AND I've lost my crap. *sigh* I'm such a terrible blogger.

I am severely intimidated by this list. I mean, it's awesome and I'm about to go GFriend/GReader/Goodreads all of the above but I will also be spending my evening transcribing my to-read list onto Goodreads. I have a feeling the note pad in the back of my agenda just won't cut it anymore. 21st century I am coming for you!

If I remember right, Jay was having a giveaway for bookmarks over at his blog just for spreading the word about the Stormdancer trailer. I tweeted, do I get a bookmark now? *O*

I use postcards as bookmarks. But most of the time, I just remember the page.

On the other hand, I THINK I JUST LOST A LIBRARY BOOK ON CAMPUS! *panic and freaks out* WHERE ISSS ITTTT?!?!?

You are SO incredibly sweet to include me on this list, thank you so much! It's such a nice group to be in, and I see a lot of friends here, too. It's so funny because we are sort of newish friends, Christina, but I feel like I've known you a lot longer. :) I'm so happy we've gotten to know each other and I've come to rely on your opinion for many of my book ventures, too!

You know how I feel about Cuddlebuggery, and I admire Wendy Darling so much! I'm actually about to read Pixie's book soon. As soon as I get through my NetGalley backlog and I am almost done.

I love all of you guys. I'm so proud to be a part of this fantastic community. I don't know where my life would be without all of you in it.

Thank you so much for your kind words about me. I WILL always have your back. Oh, and you should know, I'm STILL trying to catch up on Season 2 of MLP. NO FREAKING TIME! <3
