Cover Snark (40): In Which Some Men Actually Own Shirts...And Wear Them!

Welcome to Cover Snark, where the people are snarky and the covers quiver in fear. Since I don't write many snarky book reviews here on A Reader of Fictions, Cover Snark is my outlet. If you click on the title of the book, where possible, I've linked to Goodreads. Clicking on the cover itself will show you the cover in a larger size, in most cases. Feel free to love covers I hate and vice versa. Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

Commenting pro tip: The easiest way to comment on such a long post is to open the post in two windows (really easy if you use Google Reader). Comment in one and scroll the covers in the other. That's actually how I comment on other people's reviews too. I can't remember all my comments by the time I get to the box!

1. Breaking the Wrong (Sloan Brothers #2) - Calia Read
Thoughts: Does this look like the adult version of a Sara Shepard book to anyone else?

2. The Morning Star (The Katerina Trilogy #3) - Robin Bridges
Thoughts: These covers have all been so cheesy. At least her waist hasn't been photoshopped impossibly skinny on this one. I feel like there are entirely too many shades of purple happening here. I do like the outfit, though.

Thoughts: Damn. I love the pretty dress covers for this series, but, wow, highlighter yellow is really not working for me.

4. Embracing Scandal - Suzi Love
Thoughts: Embracing derp.

5. Dark Light (Dark Light #1) - S.L. Jennings
Thoughts: Oh, great. Apparently one poorly photoshopped fake eye color just doesn't cut it anymore.

6. Before the Fall (Rojan Dizon #2) - Francis Knight
Thoughts: While I don't think this is quite as stunning as the first cover in the series, it's still pretty damn amazing.

Thoughts: *headdesk*

8. The Best Man - Ana Blaze
Thoughts: So, is that a slit or does her dress just end there in the front? Either way, that's one classy as fuck wedding dress.

9. Stormchaser (Cutter Cay #4) - Cherry Adair
Thoughts: Cover model looks exceedingly uncomfortable, perhaps because his nipples have been stolen or because a person is swimming through where his junk should be.

10. Imposter (Vampire Nation #1) - Cat Miller
Thoughts: This looks like an add for makeup.

11. Soul Games - Various Authors
Thoughts: It's never a good sign when no editor is listed on an anthology, especially when the listing of contributors doesn't know how to use commas properly.

12. Die for Her (Revenants #2.5) - Amy Plum
Thoughts: Where is this series set again?

13. Weavers (The Frost Chronicles #3) - Kate Avery Ellison
Thoughts: Oh man, the last cover in this series was awesome, and this one is just horrid. Part of a person and some of that person's hair photoshopped in front of a forest. FAIL.

14. Dweller on the Threshold (Beri O'Dell #1) - Rinda Elliott
Thoughts: She's going to take her knife and find the person who styled her hair. I do not blame her; this murder is justified.

15. The Distance Between Us - Kasie West
Thoughts: While the distance between them might not be all that impressive, the cover is. Mostly, I love her shoes. And her dress. Can I have them? Please? Also, lens flare that doesn't make me want to punch things!

16. The Oathbreaker's Shadow (The Knots Sequence #1) - Amy McCulloch
Thoughts: Oooh, illustrated fantasy dude with curvy knife (scimitar?). Awesome. The dude behind him HORRIFIES me. Just so you know.

17. The Dragon Empire - Heather McCorkle
Thoughts: A huge thank you goes out to the cover designer's daughter for being so generous as to loan her toy dragon for use in this project.

18. Jamb (The Cornerstone #3) - Misty Provencher
Thoughts: Don't you just LOVE my nail polish? It took me HOURS!

19. Full of Grace - Misty Provencher
Thoughts: Realization: champagne looks gross in black and white. Or maybe that's "grace" that flute is full of.

20. Breathless (The Elemental Series #2.5) - Brigid Kemmerer
Thoughts: I love the background color. I love it a lot. And the dude does look a lot less cheesy when not combined with a whole bunch of other dudes. Also, congrats to him for wearing a shirt!

21. And the Mountains Echoed - Khaled Hosseini
Thoughts: THIS COVER IS YELLING AT ME. A lot are in all caps, but I think it's how the font gets larger and larger that makes me feel chastened. Also, the little girl looks a little too short and wide, yes?

22. Tin Cat - Misa Buckley
Thoughts: I always wondered what would happen when you photoshopped a girl and a cat onto a comic book. Now I know. BOING!

23. Dead Man's Deal (The Asylum Tales #2) - Jocelynn Drake
Thoughts: Mostly, this cover is boring, BUT I love the way they included the series info in the tattoo. That looks badass.

24. Infamous (Fame Game #3) - Lauren Conrad
Thoughts: Man, they always walk it in with these covers. Then again, the only people who will buy these anyway are the Lauren Conrad fangirls, so the cover really doesn't matter, does it?

25. Summer Ruins (The Last Year #4) - Trisha Leigh
Thoughts: This series has the best self-pub covers I've ever seen, I think.

26. The Next Forever - Lisa Burstein
Thoughts: It's amazing how new adult books just scream that they're new adult. Her facial expression is weird, amirite?

27. Silencing Breath (Stealing Breath #2) - Joanne Brothwell
Thoughts: Oh. Oh no. These fonts are a bad idea. And the people are surrounded by clouds of color, presumably because they smell so bad their musk is visible. And the outfit is ugly. All around fail.

28. Falling for Her Fiancé - Cindi Madsen
Thoughts: Lady Model: "Teehee. I just tooted!" Dude Model: "I will kill you for this later."

29. Luck of the Draw (Shamrock Falls #2) - Kelley Vitollo
Thoughts: "What happens when her one night in Vegas . . . doesn't stay there?" I'm guessing a restraining order.

30.  Firefly (Cicada #2) - Belle Whittington
Thoughts: This cover makes me sing this.

31. A Clockwork Heart (The Chronicles of Light and Shadow #2) - Liesel Schwarz
Thoughts: These covers are awesome. I like the sassy green font. And how she's leaning casually with one arm and gripping a knife with the other. Nice.

32. The Retribution of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer #3) - Michelle Hodkin
Thoughts: This is definitely the best of the series. These covers are gorgeous and arresting. Is the book set entirely underwater, though?

33. The Last Grave (Witch Hunt #2) - Debbie Viguié
Thoughts: Request to cover designers: can we please stop with the floating eyes? They're not as cool as you all seem to think they are.

34. A SEAL Wolf Christmas (Heart of the Wolf #12) - Terry Spear
Thoughts: Releasing Christmas covers any time but November or December and expecting people to be excited = bad idea bears.

35. Risktaker (Based on a Dream #1) - Kea Alwang
Thoughts: This cover is a risk. They've taken it. I don't think it's panning out.

36. After Rome: A Novel of Celtic Britain - Morgan Llywelyn
Thoughts: I've been through the forest on a horse with no name. It felt good to be out of the sun. In the forest you can remember your name, cause there ain't sun for to give you no burn.

37. The Game Changer (The Perfect Game #2) - J. Serling
Thoughts: How nice for Jack and Cassie's floating heads, but this isn't a game changer, because I wasn't interested in them and I'm still not.

38. Holding Out for a Hero - Various Authors
Thoughts: So sorry to have to tell you this, but your hero is on fire. You might be waiting a while.

39. Bewitched (The Thaumaturgy #1) - Mark Jay Harris
Thoughts: Wow, the world really needed another cover like this one.

40. Secrets of the Fall - Kailin Gow
Thoughts: What a passionate embrace! If only it were reciprocated. I need to give this girl a copy of He's Just Not That Into You.

41. Tide (Sarah Midnight Trilogy #2) - Daniela Sacerdoti
Thoughts: Ew. Is there a reason the D doesn't get a strike through? Words I never want to see in another tag line: love, secrets, truth.

42. Hereafter - Jennifer Snyder
Thoughts: This cover wants to be Darkness Before Dawn so badly.

43. The Eighth Court (Courts of the Feyre #4) - Mike Shevdon
 Thoughts: Knowledge is power?

44. Obscura Burning - Suzanne Van Rooyen
Thoughts: That font kills it.

45. Devil May Care (Speak of the Devil #2) - Patricia Eimer
Thoughts: Really, Entangled? This is the best you could do? This better be set in the 1960s.

46.  The Outside (The Hallowed Ones #2) - Laura Bickle
Thoughts: I am so impressed by the fact that they manage to make these covers look serious and not hilarious. I like this one better than the first.

47. Blurred (Kissed by Death #2) - Tara Fuller
Thoughts: This hasn't officially been released, but I found it, so I think it's been leaked. It looks good, though (even though they stole the font treatment from the Deviants series), so hopefully it is the final cover.

48. Bound by Her Ring - Nicole Flockton
Thoughts: Based on the title, I'm thinking CEO Christina Gray teaches young, innocent Antony Steel about the shocking world of BDSM.

49. Bitter Disenchantment (Coveted #0.4) - Shawntelle Madison
Thoughts: Oh, honey, what are you wearing? The 90s called. It wants its midriff back. Also, whoever thought bright orange hair would look great on a purple background, you were wrong.

50. The Glitter Trap (Oh My Godmother #1) - Barbara Brauner & James Iver Mattson
Thoughts: Awww, middle grade covers are so cute.

51. Justice (The Ferryman and the Flame #2) - Rhiannon Paille
 Thoughts: Mehhhh.

52. Blood & Gold (The Ferryman and the Flame #2.5) - Rhiannon Paille
Thoughts: Oh, good lord. This would be a decent self-pub were it not for the explosion of awful fonts. Stahp.

53. Desire in Any Language - Anastasia Vitsky
Thoughts: Looks more like desire in Chinese. Bonus points if any of you can tell me that this cover actually says something hilarious.

54. Corded - Alyssa Rose Ivy
Thoughts: Alyssa Rose Ivy presents: yet another couple cover with an air of menace that may or may not be intentional.

55. Saving the Team (The Kicks #1) - Alex Morgan
Thoughts: Thanks for a nice look at the cover Publishers Weekly! Who needs to be able to read all the text?

56. The Case of the Time-Capsule Bandit (Randi Rhodes, Ninja Detective #1) - Octavia Spencer
Thoughts: Thanks for not letting anyone else have the full cover, USA Today. Your thoughtfulness is appreciated. On a happier note, both of these middle grade covers are all about diversity.

57. Earth Star (Earth Girl #2) - Janet Edwards
Thoughts: The magenta really isn't working for me.

58. The Night Itself (The Katana Trilogy #1) - Zoe Marriott
Thoughts: Oh no. I hope the US cover is better. *crosses fingers*

59. Rogue (Croak #3) - Gina Damico
Thoughts: Her scythe is awfully blue. O_O Also, what's going on up top? Any ideas?

Cover Battles:

1. Facade (Games #2) - Nyrae Dawn
Take 1 vs. Take 2: Well, apparently, Nyrae Dawn said enough was enough, since her first stock cover promptly got reused by at least two other books. This new one has better title font, but mysterious smoke. Winner: Redesign for not having any imitators. Yet.

2. Fractured (Caged #5) - Amber Lynn Natusch
Fractured vs. Insomnia: These books have nothing to do with one another, but when I saw the Fractured cover, I immediately thought of Insomnia. Fractured has a better effect; The one on Insomnia looks cool and creepy, but doesn't make much sense unless guyliner exploded. However, I really hate the border and how gray the cover is. Winner: Insomnia.

3. Awaken (The Patronus #1) - Sarah M. Ross
Original vs. Redesign: Well, the new one IS better, but better is one hell of a relative term. Winner: Redesign for having moved from the 80s to the 90s in style.

4. The Butterfly Clues - Kate Ellison
Hardback vs. Paperback: Is that a Rohrshach test on the hands? That's pretty cool. I also like the font treatment. Winner: No real preference. Both work.

5. Transparent - Natalie Whipple
US vs. UK: Bahahahahahahahaha! *rolls on floor laughing* *sits up* Bahahaha!!! *wipes eyes* *sees the glasses in the title* BAHAHA! Winner: US. I didn't think this book was about...whatever weird sport this oddly-dressed person is playing.

6. The Chocolate Lovers' Club - Carole Matthews
Hardback vs. Paperback vs. New Cover: I'm honestly not sure what this new cover is for, but here you go. Winner: Paperback, because I dislike it slightly less than the others.

7. Omens (Cainsville #1) - Kelley Armstrong
UK vs. Canada: The US went for a blurred image of a town. Both UK and Canada called in our old favorite, the fantasy bird. Winner: Canada for eschewing the use of a lame tag line.

8. Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass #1) - Sarah J. Maas
UK vs. Mexican: There will never be a better cover for this book than the UK one. The whole sword in shadow effect makes me think of this.

9. The Glass Republic (The Skyscraper Throne #2) - Tom Pollock
UK vs. US:  Okay, I am totally loving the diversity on the cover, but what the hell is up with the rest of the cover? I mean, look at the blonde girl's face! And the city's shown in glass shards...why? Winner: UK for keeping it classy.

10. Also Known As - Robin Benway
Take 1 vs. Take 2: Boo. Another cover I liked nixed before publication. I am so over this. Winner: Take 1 for being funnier and more unique.

WTF of the Week:

How It Rolls - Lila Felix
Thoughts: This cover is so rock and roll. Get it?

Soul Screamers: Yes ma'am, that is not a good shade of yellow. I personally would have gone with red and black. I don't know why, but I would have.

Die For Her: This cover is as effortless as all the other Impulse covers, but at least it's pretty to look at. I'm a total suker for purple and filigree! But yeah, they can set a cover somewhere other than in front of the Eiffel Tower. It's not like readers don't know where it's set by this point.

The Distance Between Us: Something bothers me about that font, but I can't put my finger on it.

Jamb: ...This makes my soul, eyes, and a few other things hurt.

Tin Cat: THIS WINS SOLELY BECAUSE THERE IS A CAT. I'm suffering from cat withdrawal, if you can't tell. Even though it's ugly, I can bear it because KITTY.

The Night Itself: Wow, that's bad. I hope the US cover is better too.

Rogue: I have no idea what's going on there and it's probably not going to look good when the book's in print. I love the reflective effect of the IRL covers and the swirls of whatever are NOT going to look pretty.

Transparent: I... Wow. That UK cover leaves me speechless. That is awful.

The Trisha Leigh books: Wow, those DO look good when you've got them all together.

Soul Screamers: Really any darker shade would be better. Even the hot pink dress worked. This is just too bright.

Die for Her: I agree. They didn't have to do much work other than locating a pic of Paris, but it's pretty nonetheless. NO, MUST HAVE EIFFEL TOWER.

Distance Between Us: Maybe a little non-fancy to match the classiness of the rest of the image?

Jamb: Ha.

Rin Cat: I love kitties.

The Night Itself: Isn't it? *crosses fingers*

Rogue: Yeah, I hope the swirls get removed. I liked the simplicity of the others.

Transparent: Isn't it? I laughed for like five minutes when I saw it.

Trisha Leigh: Don't they? I now think all series covers should combine like a puzzle.

Ah I totally heart Thursdays!

2. Is it wings?!

3. My eyeeeeeeees!

4. I shall distract you from this cover-mess with bosoms.

5. Stop with the freaky fucking eyes already!

6. Love! No idea what it's about but I'd buy it just for the cover - cityscapes are awesome.

7. Death would be preferrable. Thanks.

8. When Blenders Attack.

9. Or he just read the cheesy tag line....

10. No comment.

11. Dancing in the mistttttttttt *twirls*

12. Let me hit you over the head with subtle hints. Is it Istanbul?

14. Holy shit, there's a skunk on your head lady!

17. Hahahahah!

20. Shirts are hot! Or at least warmer.

22. She looks like shes trying to hold back a yawn. Or maybe a burp. Ewww!

23. Not my thing, but kinda cool.

25. Agreed!

27. Ever played The Sims - this totally reminds me of the 'aura' they have when they need a shower!

28. Hahhahahahaha!

31. Just gonna chill here for a while, then STAB you!

32. Love all these covers, they are so subtle and pretty.

34. ....... I have no words

35. I'm betting if you had all those planets THAT close, kissing some dude on a bridge (whilst doing the carefree foot-kick-back thing) wouldn't be your first priority.

38. Ah you crack me up!!!

39. They never learn...

46. Oooooo, likey!

CB3. Why the door? I'm sure it's part of the plot but that's not a reason to put it on the cover!

CB4. It's a tie for me too.

CB5. How to totally turn off your target audience with a cover change!

CB7. I totally read that tag line as Thrust Your Instincts. There's a challenge for you ;-)

Awesome! I didn't realise the The Last Year books make a face, that is so cool! And they are pretty.

4. Embracing Scandal: WOW, that is some amazing cleavage going on. I have a hard time seeing anything else on this cover.

8. The Best Man: Her dress is super distracting but can we take a moment to admire is monotone suit?

10. Imposter: I feel like this was modeled after JLaw.

12. Die For Her: I would like to start taking bets on how many of the authors who set their stories in Paris have actually been to Paris.

14. Dweller on the Threshold: What is going on here? Her hair? Her outfit? The forest? This is a clusterfuck.

15. The Distance Between Us: I'm not a huge fan of the font but it doesn't bother me enough to not like this cover. I think it helps that the solar flare isn't right between them. Added kudos to the cover designers for not making the sun flare the distance.

20. Breathless: Oh my God, he looks SO uncomfortable. And what is his left hand doing?

21. And the Mountains Echoed: I feel like this cover looks a lot like The Kite Runner cover. Not exactly of course but the style and feel seems very similar.

25. Summer Ruins: Does it seem like they missed part of her lip? Or make-upped over it to make it seem like her lips are fuller?

27. Silencing Breath: I'm too lazy to go look but I feel like this image was on another image and they've added a hat and musk-aura.

26. After Rome: I'm not excited by this cover but, as far as epic fantasy goes, I think it could be worse. Again, I hate when the author's name is larger than the title.

The Eighth Court: I am liking this cover.

46. The Outisde: I love the colors of this cover but I hope the carpetbag man is bringing her a cardigan.

48. Bound By Her Ring: Is he the one that's bound? Or is it her? Is this an ad for NuvaRing?

2. I don't think so. She doesn't have wings. I think it's ether or something. A physical manifestation of magic.

5. I knew you'd love that!

6. You should check out the first book. AMAZING. The cover. Haven't read the book yet.

7. You are mean. (and I love it)

12. HOW DID YOU GUESS?

14. I was thinking some sort of sea urchin.

22. Ha!

27. Nope!

35. Does anyone ever actually spontaneously do the kickback thing? I feel like it's totally just a pose.

CB3: agreed. The door is not working.

CB5: Not technically a cover change. That was the UK's awesome idea.

CB7: BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

8. Gray, a gray suit. That's very gray.

10. JLo? Jude Law? Jennifer Lawrence!!! Ohhhhhh. Is that a thing?

14. Pretty much. I would be that pissed too.

15. The font's a bit childish. Yes! I hate when sun flare gets in the way. That just adds an accent.

20. Ha! I almost commented on that. Model: "So, uhhh, what should I do with my arms?" Looks like he's doing Live Long and Prosper.

21. All of his covers have had a similar style.

25. Hmmm, maybe.

27. Yeah, I have that same feeling, but didn't feel like hunting. I think it was on Cuddlebuggery.

46. Either that or he's a vampire and he's going to eat her.

48. LOL.

The Soul Screamers: I adore these covers, but this color choice isn't my favorite. I'm sure I would have liked the highlighter-yellow cover more if the background weren't white, but I do like the swirly aspect to the dress.

Die for Her: DO NOT BELIEVE THESE COVERS. THEY SHOW THE EIFFEL TOWER BUT THE MOST DETAILS YOU GET ABOUT PARIS IS ABOUT THE METRO OR THE CAFE. THE COVERS ARE LYING BASTARDS.

*ahem*

The Distance Between Us: I adore this cover. Her dress is so cute and I absolutely love her shoes, and the different fonts are awesome.

The Dragon Empire: *snorts*

Breathless: His nipples look like weapons.

Summer Ruins: These covers are awesome. I would have never thought they were self-pub just by looking at them!

A Clockwork Heart: Ooh, this one is cool. I love how she's half inside the painting and half out.

Mara Dyer: No scenes in any of the books take place in or near the water. Except for a brief scene with an alligator in book one. I still have no clue as to what the fuck happened in that scene. There was some voodoo shit and then, "O EM GEE NOAH ALLIGATOR RUNNNNN." It would have been much more interesting if the alligator won.

Blurred: Oh, I like this cover so much more than the cover for Inbetween!

Earth Star: After the awesomeness that was the first cover, I am VERY disappointed in this one.

Rogue: No.

Transparent UK: OH GOD NO.

The new Zoe Marriott book has a cover?! Squeeeee!!! It's not terrible, just sorta meh. And I think the Amy Plum one is better than the other Impulse covers, but I sorta love all the covers in that series.

And I think the Brigid Kemmerer book has a boy with a shirt because its YA. I've never seen a YA cover with a shirtless boy...

2. This cover screams at me "stay away"

4. I'm so glad their giving us the cleavage shot. Awesome.

6. This cover is amazing! Though I think I'm going to disagree with you on the first cover being better.

8. This isn't how you've always pictured your wedding dress? It's totally appropriate AND it has an awesome huge ass flower on the front.

9. I think the tagline is making him uncomfortable.

11. WTF is she doing? Looks awkward.

15 This cover is gorgeous! Gorgeous!

16. This one makes me laugh, and that's probably not what the author was going for.

20. He looks a little stoned.

24. I actually had to look up the other covers cause I swear it looked just like the others, and I love when I'm right. I like continuity, but this is basically the same.

Side note: I really strong think that the title should be bigger than the authors name.

26. New Adult covers do scream New Adult. And I'm really starting to hate that term, especially since other than Tammara Webber it seems like all the other books are bad. But that's just my opinion.

28. From now on whenever I see this cover I will automatically think of your dialogue.

30. This makes me think of Avatar. And since I strongly disliked Avatar that's a bad thing.

32. Love. Love. Love. This is one of those books that I don't care at all if it doesn't match the story perfectly (like Hourglass & Timepiece by Myra McEntire). Covers are gorgeous and they match - that's all that matters.

39. Dude, I totally need some fire coming out of my hands.

48. Yep. Looks that way to me.

59. I don't think I like this as much as the other two, but I seriously appreciate the continuity.

CB5. This one had me giggling so much at work that my boss thought there was something wrong with me. This looks so childish and I don't even know.

CB 10. Take 1 is something I would pick up off the shelf. Take 2 looks like everything else and easily over looked.

2. It looks amateurish and self-published to me. I think it is the awful color combos.

3. But yellow covers are so unusual!

5. Ugh. WHY.

6. I LOVEEEE the first cover. This one is great, but you are right, it doesn't have the same impact.

8. Trashiest wedding dress of ALLLL time.

10. For bad makeup.

14. What in the hell? Is that a woman? Who thought that hair looked good? It's AWFUL.

15. Favorite so far though there hasn't been much competition. I really like this one.

16. What the hell is that at his waist? I don't like this one at all. Badly drawn.

17. LOL. This is soo cheesy. The font is awful as well.

21. It's okay. The font is too much.

25. Yeah, I like this one but I am a little unsure about the boxy thing around the title.

30. Interesting color choices. I really love the colors but not the cover, to be honest. I'm sick of women's faces.

31. That's green? It looks yellow on my screen. Am I colorblind? Or are you?

32. None of the book is set underwater.

35. There's just too much going on here.

36. Really a fan of the artist though. That would make a beautiful painting.

39. *facepalm*

41. Why does the shape of her body look so weird and distorted?

46. I like it better than the first too.

51. No, no, no, no. no. This is bad. The guy looks 40!!

52. Fonts are awful. None of these covers look like they go together.

54. I don't know about you, but I think that guy is UGLY.

57. I LOVE THIS!! You suck, Christina. My favorite. XD

57. I kind of think it's unique!

CB4: I think it is a Rohrshach test. I read this book. It was weird. I like both covers.

CB6: I like the paperback cover best as well.

CB10: I agree. I really liked the original. They got rid of uniqueness as if uniqueness is bad. BOO.

WOW. Those series covers for your best of the week are really beautiful. I kind of get the box now. Well done.

Haha, sorry. I'll elaborate. His hand (and his body!) is drawn or made with some kind of computer program, then his face is photo-shopped in. I just found that entertaining is all. (:

LOL CHRISTINA!

4. Wtf unnecessary cleavage
5. God those fonts are horrible
6. Woah really eye catching cover
14. Good lord her hair and there's too many fonts
15. I really want to read Distance Between Us!
15. The dragon tail is just really disturbing
18. Wth is that book about
19. It looks like the female reproductive system O_O
20. I absolutely love tha blue <3 but I question the blue on his face without lighting (all the previous covers, the guy's face has colour but it's due to the lighting...)
25. Omg that Summer Ruins is such a pretty cover! I want to check it out now
32. I love all the Mara Dyer covers! #3 especially because I assume that's Noah holding her
35. God it looks like something I created back when I first started out with Photoshop
40. LOL YOUR He's Just Not That Into You comment :D WIN
42. I am so sick of useless girls-in-dresses covers...
52. Looked really good until I scrolled down and saw the fonts. Good god why

Insomnia just looks creepy :|

WTF IS WITH THOSE TRANSPARENT COVERS?

Throne of Glass <3 I have the UK cover but her expressions freaks me out. Looks nothing like the seemingly pretty assassin.

Omg those Summer Ruins covers come together gorgeously. AND SHE'S PRETTY OMG! I am going to look these up right now!

1. I wish I could pull off red lipstick like that. :-(

2. I actually like this cover, strangely enough.

3. You mean this isn't the new cover for The Butter Battle Book?

6. That was instantaneous vertigo for me.

8. If I ever get married, I'm going to dress my bridesmaids in that. *sniggers*

15. The shoes are almost enough to compensate for the glare.

20. Are his nipples hard or is his shirt just crinkled terribly?

22. I just startled the old people in the library because I apparently burst out laughing for no reason. This is AWFUL!

25. I would have never guessed that these are self-pubbed, and that is saying a LOT from mean ol' me.

31. This is really, really pretty!

32. I haven't read the books, but I own them as shelf candy. :-D

43. I hate the series title, but I'll allow the cover.

46. Is this a young Susan May Pratt?

49. Hey, ginger! LL Cool J said he wanted his chains back!

50. *sighs* I hope they never start screwing up MG covers. They make me happy.

51. I think this is the best in the series. Well, it would be if the glow on the fonts was lost.

57. Ooooh! Earth Girl was really good, so I'm looking forward to this one. I think this is the UK cover because the US Earth Girl cover is a girl hugging a planet.

59. The first book's cover was okay, the second one was bad, and this is just TERRIBLE! Poor Gina Damico...

CB5. Oh... Wow... That UK cover sure is something...

CB8. I own the UK version just because it was so bad ass, and the US one was so ridiculous. Yes, I prefer hardcovers, but how can you beat an ice princess?

WTF. Am I really seeing roller skates?

I am so behind on comments and reading my favorite blogs. I will be back with a vengeance next week for Cover Snark with better commentary, but a few thoughts:

Die For Her: Okay, Harper is getting slightly better with their ebook covers. It looks like they actually might care about them.

The Distance Between Us: I love this cover! I really think Kasie has scored gold with both of her books this year. They are both packaged very nicely.

Retribution of Mara Dyer: I love these covers, however, I still think the first one is the best.

Summer Ruins: OMG! How have I not seen these before. Gorgeous! I will not read these books for the covers. *nods* That is how I roll, son.

Ever since the 'Boing' Girl/Cat pic, my brain said it for every cover for some reason. When I got to the WTF of the Week, it was amazing! Boing would have been AWESOME on that cover!
