BEA Book Haul, Part One: Penguin

I've broken my BEA book haul up into smaller chunks, so I have more time to talk about the books. For those who like to witness my inane ramblings, you can watch the video, but there's also a list of books below. This first video is featuring exclusively Penguin titles, since I had by far the most books from them.

Aw man, I was really hoping for The Lion King Pt. 2 here. He, I loved the "People if you're naming your kids like this, stop it!" part. I'm curious what you'll think of Down to You, but it sounds indeed terrible.

Great books! I got Morning Glory as well but I'm super jealous that you got Margot and The Yonahlosse Riding Camp for Girls, which I've heard good things about.

I read 'What Alice Forgot' by Liane Moriarty it was book also about marriage/family problems. It was about a woman who got amnesia and does not remember last 10 years of her marriage or why is she divorcing her husband (last she remembers they were madly in love). I was scared it's going to be a cheating story but it was not and it was good - very realistic characters and original twists and turns in story. I am hoping to read 'The Husband's Secret' soon too and I hope that there will be no cheating involved again.

I have read 'Down to You' Cash and Nash *giggles* It's nothing special, just another new adult contemporary romance with a love triangle.

The rest of the books and authors are all unknown to me but most of them sound very interesting. Especially middle grade ones.
I hope you enjoy them all!

I agree. Penguin did a bad-ass job at BEA. Now I wish I could get an email contact with them! Agh!

Yes, I want to read that Riding Camp book so bad. I have it coming up soon, so yay! I am not typing out that entire title. Fuck that. LOL.

The cover of The Husband's Secret is so pretty!

And I agree, Down to You will most likely be a hate read for me as well. Hahaha!

I am so glad we both got copies of the Twistrose Key. I want to read that book freaking NOWWWW. LOL.

I got all the same MG books and I am excited because when I am done they are going in hubby's classroom. :)

Sorry, Lion King happens spontaneously. It can't be forced. Kara and I might do a chat about it since we both got it. MWAHAHA.

Good to hear that her other book is good! I'd not heard of her before I picked this one up. Hopefully this lives up to your prior experience.

Well, it remains to be seen if it will make me ragey.

Yes, super excited about the middle grades this time!

Good luck with that, dear. I have several contacts, but they're not helpful with actually getting ARCs. Steph has even more contacts, and I don't think that's really gotten her any ARCs either. Just fill out their blogger form and you'll either get stuff or you won't. That's pretty much it.

Seriously, that title is ridiculous. It's LONG and I can't spell that first word.

So PRETTY. I'm getting a Lyra's Oxford sort of vibe from the animal spirits. Could be wrong though.

I really enjoy Sarah Jio books, really looking forward to Morning Glory! I actually just read The Yonahlosse Riding Camp for Girls and was pretty disappointed soo.... I hope you enjoy it, and I look forward to seeing what you think about it. :) I might have to check out The Husband's Secret... sounds intriguing! Happy Reading. :)

Awesome! I'm unfamiliar with her thus far, but have heard good reports. I saw that you didn't like it when I got home and was cataloging everything. Honestly, since it's already out, I won't get to it for years, I suspect.

It was one of those that everybody loved and I was confused and saying, "What bastard snuck me the wrong book??" But whatever. Can't love them all.

Awwww, well, I'll be going into it with lowered expectations when I do get there, so sometimes that helps.

I love how you are structuring your haul videos, Christina, and that you are talking about them! Sounds like there are some great adult fiction books coming out (I'm try to get back into my love for adult fiction this year, haha)! I've added Margot on Goodreads since it sounds interesting - although, would you believe that I am a lover of history and history graduate and somehow have NOT read The Diary of Anne Frank? I need to remedy this soon, me thinks!

Thanks! I'm glad you like them. I try to keep reading more than just YA too. Keeps everything fresher. Yeah, you should fix that. ;)

Oh good idea, breaking your haul up by publishers! A lot of these are new ones to me which is odd but whatever. Proxy sounds really interesting, I'll be curious to start seeing reviews on that one. The Twistrose Key I had to get my hands on too, besides the gorgeous cover it SOUNDS incredibly enchanting too. We got short changed though when they explained the synopsis of Counting by Sevens though, all they said was it was a book about OCD but the way you explained it out makes it sound even more interesting! Again I am so so sorry about the state one of your BEA boxes was, that's just too horrible but I am glad some of these made their way back to you!

Dude, I know. I looked at a couple people's book hauls and not even did I not have a lot of them, I didn't even know they were there.

Oh, I might have been the one who said OCD, because I didn't remember and counting by 7s sounds like an OCD habit.

BOX. *resists urge to weep over Reality Boy and Once We Were*

Love that there are some adult books in here too-I've been craving some non-YA lately and have a few titles lined up to satisfy that craving.

I am so glad you ended up doing these BEA book haul vlogs. I know how bummed you were when USPS lost and mangled those books. Sucks big time. Great haul! Can't wait to read all your reviews for your new reads!

Here I am with a lovely timely comment on your vlog ;)

Margot sounds like just my thing, definitely going to check that out.

I read a Liane Moriarty book a couple of years ago and really enjoyed her style.
