January 2012: Month in Review

This has been one busy month for reading. Seriously, check me out. I'm ahead by a few books in my whopper of a book challenge (225), even though I have work, go to the gym (when I'm feeling motivated, which is unfortunately not every day), and have some semblance of a social life. And when I say ahead by a few books, I mean I'm only one book behind for a book-a-day challenge. Yikes. So do I sacrifice life and go for it? That would be a bad idea, but so tempting.

These books break down thusly. The starred titles were my favorites.

13 YA:
Drowning Instinct - Ilsa J. Bick*
The Gathering Storm - Robin Bridges (Debut Author Challenge)
Halflings - Heather Burch (Debut Author Challenge)
The Way We Fall - Megan Crewe
Tempest - Julie Cross (Debut Author Challenge)
New Girl - Paige Harbison
Ditched - Robin Mellom (Debut Author Challenge)
Fracture - Megan Miranda (Debut Author Challenge)*
Tantalize - Cynthia Leitich Smith
Eternal - Cynthia Leitich Smith
Blessed - Cynthia Leitich Smith
Diabolical - Cynthia Leitich Smith
Goliath - Scott Westerfeld

8 Adult:
Machine Man - Max Barry
Compulsively Mr. Darcy - Nina Benneton
The Tea Rose - Jennifer Donnelly*
Revealing Eden - Victoria Foyt (marketed for YA, but reads more like romance)
A Discovery of Witches - Deborah Harkness*
The Dispatcher - Ryan David Jahn
The Baker's Daughter - Sarah McCoy
The Winter Palace - Eva Stachniak

4 Manga:
Fullmetal Alchemist - Hiromu Arakawa*
Ouran High School Host Club - Bisco Hatori
Boys Over Flowers - Yoko Kamio
Black Cat - Kentaro Yabuki

3 Audiobooks:
Heart of Darkness - Joseph Conrad
A Tale of Two Cities - Charles Dickens
Hamlet - William Shakespeare

2 Middle Grade:
A Wind in the Door - Madeleine L'Engle
A Swiftly Tilting Planet - Madeleine L'Engle

Clearly, YA still dominates my reading, but I'm not doing too badly for variety overall. Go me!

This is insane, but in the best way possible, friendface. I bow to your reading superiority and wish I could emulate it :)
