Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Series I Haven't Finished Because, Ummmm, I Haven't Gotten Around to It

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

So, despite my best attempts, to read all the things, some things do fall between the cracks, even series that I really enjoy and want to read in their entirety. The reasons for why I haven't gotten through these series vary, but I do hope to read all of them someday.

1) Vampire Academy - Richelle Mead (Read 4/6)
2) Discworld - Terry Pratchett (Read 5/40)
3) Wheel of Time - Robert Jordan (Read 3.5/14)
4) The Tea Rose - Jennifer Donnelly (Read 1/3)
5) Alcatraz - Brandon Sanderson (Read 1/4)
6) Stephanie Plum - Janet Evanovich (Read 14/19)
7) The Hungry City Chronicles - Philip Reeve (Read 1/4)
8) Uglies - Scott Westerfeld (Read 3/4)
9) The Mysterious Benedict Society - Trenton Lee Stewart (Read 2/3)
10) Chronicles of Narnia - C.S. Lewis (Read 5/7)

Alright, these are ten of the series that most haunt me in my inability to finish them. Which series have you started that are currently chiding you for your lack of follow-through?

Kelly Gay's Charlie Madigan (Need to read #4! I can't remember what happened in the previous book though)

Kalayna Price's Grave Witch series (#1 was okay, had an incredibly hard time with #2 and the thought of plodding through #3 tires me)

Kelley Armstrong's Women of the Underworld (Stuck on #4 forever!!! I suppose I could move on since they can sort of be read as standalones but I'm OCD about reading in order...)

Black Heart by Holly Black. Can't bear to read the final installment...

Probably a ton more but I can't remember them at the moment.

Ooh The Uglies is one of my fav series. But I don't recommend reading the 4th. It's not even with the same characters and it wasn't that great in my opinion. I say you're fine with the 3 lol. And Janet Evanovich is one I've been wanting to try for everz!!!

Haha, your issue with Women of the Otherworld is where I am in reading Anne McCaffrey's Pern books. I got stuck on a boring one, but don't feel okay skipping it, even though I don't NEED to read it. Sigh.

Is Black Heart because you don't want it to end or because it's not good?

Hmmm, I will not put that high on my list then.

Also, read Janet Evanovich! She's so effing funny!

AH I totally forgot about the fact that I started the Uglies series so I put that on my list. I read it in a time when I was still wary of YA books. I might give it a try again!

And I really need to get to the Vampire Academy series. EVERYONE LOVES THEM!!

I didn't love the Uglies series, but I enjoyed the concept a lot.

One of my college roommates was an avid fan of Wheel of Time. Like Harry Potter fans of the time, when the new one came out she disappeared for a few days and returned to the land of the living only when it was complete. I have always meant to read them but epic fantasy can get long and draggy and really? 14 of them?

Oh the Stephanie Plum series! I forgot about those, which I have almost all of on my TBR and haven't ever read the first one. Bad bad bad Kat!

Same for Uglies - oh I really need to get onto some more series!

I haven't read/begun any of the series you mentioned. I have heard good things about The Uglies series though- I have considered giving them a go. I hope you finish them eventually.

My Top Ten Tuesday

I have been saying this for 15(ish) years - I am not starting Robert Jordan's books until they are ALL out! I used to rant at the bookstore (when I worked there) that he would never finish the series. *squints eyes* I'm not totally horrible, though. I own most of them.

I recommend that you never finish the Narnia books. The Last Battle stole my innocence and destroyed my childhood. Okay, not really, but it seriously broke my heart.

I'm stuck on the Stephanie Plum books, for whatever reason. I've read five of them, and I really do love them.

I read Risa's Maximum Ride books over the summer; the last one just came out and I'm trying to get my hands on it. I'm a little sick of the plot but I really do like Max, and also despite the fact that it's not my favorite series I want to know what happens.

Richelle Mead-- I've read the first book of Vampire Academy, and a couple of the Bluebloods books. I generally don't read much vampire romance, but sometimes indulge in Richelle Mead when I want to.

Cassandra Clare-- If Clary and Jace would just get together and freaking STAY together I wouldn't have this problem. Like, I want to read the very ending, but not really the books in between, but if they're important then I want to, but... see, the whole maybe-incest thing isn't something I really like, but I want to see the ending, but... GAH.

Discworld is 40 books?? God Lord! Also, Uglies is a trilogy! Book 4 is not worth reading and doesn't fit!

You would have to disappear for a long time to read them. Sigh. I did read almost an entire one in one night though, because I was on vacation and sharing a room with my snoring parents. I only got one hour of sleep, though.

They definitely do drag in parts and they're not brilliant, but I did love a couple of the characters and I want to know first hand what happens to them.

Most of these are great series! Apparently, though, I am done with the Uglies books, since everyone says not to read book four.

Well, I think 14 was the last one? That was my thing too. I started them and read 3.5 of them, and then I had to go back to college after summer break. I assumed my school would have them in their paltry fiction collection, but no. By the time I had access to them again months later, I couldn't remember anything, so I'm going to have to start over and read them all in a row.

Hmmm, but I'm so close! I just have Silver Chair and Last Battle, besides I don't think I care about Narnia enough for it to break my heart.

I totally feel you on Maximum Ride. I've read 2 or 3 and I think the plot is stupid, because GODDAMN you would be able to see their giant wings, special clothing or no, and I swear they sometimes didn't have special clothing. Anyway, that irked me, but they are fun, and I did like Max/Fang, so I am considering reading more.

Blue Bloods are Melissa de la Cruz. I don't like those at all, but I still read like four of them.

Cassie - Ugh. I finally committed to not reading any of her books thanks to the TSS scandal. If I'm not going to support one plagiarist, I didn't want to support another. Besides, I usually feel like I've overindulged on unhealthy food after reading one of those books. They may be bad for your health. Also, INCEST PLOT LINE, WHY?

You should finish VA. O_O But I'm biased. Lol.

The others I haven't read, except for the first book of Uglies as you know already. I'm ashamed to admit I haven't read The Chronicles of Narnia even though it's basically a classic. Haha.

One of my best friends is a huge fan of The Wheel of Time and has been trying to get me to read it for a few years. I'm still not sure if it's for me though. I've never been real big on a lot of epic fantasy really. I'm rather picky when it comes to that genre, so I don't know if I'll give it a go yet or not. I've heard of Discworld, but wow I didn't know there were that many books. Ha! The others I honestly don't think I've heard of before.

But yeah, finish VA...then get to Bloodlines. O_O Lol. But again, just biased with that one. :P

I WILL finish VA, and now I know who to come to when I need to be caught up on things I've forgotten in the previous books. :)

Wheel of Time I definitely wouldn't recommend if you don't like epic fantasy. Not at all.

ADRIAN!

Haha. I am in the same spot in The Mysterious Benedict Society. I have read two of the books. I also haven't finished the Stephanie Plum series, although I've read up to 17.

Thanks for sharing!
