My new rule (now that I'm actually not working in the store) is that I'm only allowed to go in when a book I've been waiting for has come out (and like you, I only let myself buy paperbacks along with said book I've been waiting for), but no other hardcovers. Can't wait to see what you think of The Hallowed Ones. The blurb does NOTHING for me but if you think it's good, I may have to try it.

I have had In The Name of the Star on my Kindle forever and I really need to read it before the new one comes out. Can't wait to see what you think. I wanted to like The Hallowed Ones a lot more than I did. It became too religious for me so I ended up DNF'ing it, I hope you have better luck than me. I really, really liked the first half of The Name of the Star, but then it totally changed to a different book halfway through. Not that the second half was bad, I just wasn't expected it and it totally through me off. I'll have my review up in a couple weeks when I start the blog back up. Also: I requested the sequel on NetGalley. I don't know if I'll get it, but if not I'll get it from the library.

Splintered looks SO GOOD. So good. I got that one on NetGalley too, but I'm waiting til later to read it. Can't wait though!

I'm glad I'm not the only one disappointed by The Fox Inheritance. The Adoration of Jenna Fox was amazing; I loved it so much. But it absolutely did not need a sequel. At all. And the sequel was so far removed from everything about The Adoration that I loved. I think it would have been better for Pearson to have just written a separate dystopian novel/series, instead of muddling up perfectly acceptable characters.; November 4, 2012 at 10:59 PM

Katie said...: Oh man, SPLINTERED is sooooo good! I think you'll really dislike one of the characters, but I'm hoping you like the book as a whole anyway. It's one of my favorite books I've read this year, though I can't include it on a "best of 2012" list since it doesn't come out until next year.
