Guys, I should go out of town more often because I had an insanely epic book pile awaiting me on my return. Mostly, that's because I had a whole bunch of stuff I won (some very recent, some very not) all show up at once. Amelia Anne is Dead and Gone was fabulous. I want my own copy, but I'm on a book-buying ban right now :( It was sooooo good though, so I hope you get to it soon!

The Turning! skjdhfkshjdf That cover just makes me want to read it so bad, but I don't actually know what it's about. Doesn't matter, I like Francine Prose.

Lilian said...: I was going to be a stealthy ninja...but then I saw The City of Dreaming Books, and I had to comment. Because I remember coming across that book at Barnes and Nobles last month tucked on its side on some random shelf, and I was all like "OOOOO, this sounds like Shadow of the Wind. I HAVE to remember the title of this book so I can request it from the library!" It turns out I have way too much faith in my memory. So I went back like a week later and I was so happy it was still at the same spot. BUT the library apparently didn't have a copy *tear*

Random story~ But I would love to know what you think of it, so I can maybe buy myself a copy later.

How odd that I was looking up Fforde's The Woman Who Died a Lot the day before....actually, it isn't since Penguin tweeted about it and I was all "I like that title!"

I keep getting Amelia Anne Is Dead and Gone mixed up with Kill Me Softly. Surprisingly the only review I read about Amelia Anne is Dead and Gone didn't favor it too much.

I just received a copy of Allegiance a few days ago, so I guess I will have to start that series soon. To be honest, it doesn't sound like my kind of book, and it's a bit on the longer side, which scares me.

I totally didn't know R.L. Stine was still publishing books. Oddly enough, his Goosebumps series is still really popular at my library, and I have to suppress my grin a little when kids ask for them because I loved them when I was 8. Even though it's getting horrible reviews, I'll probably read his new one, just for funsies.

Yay, Nori! Is In a Heartbeat the book about the figure skater? If it is, you know I have to read it!

Christina said...: Haha, I remember when I first heard of The City of Dreaming Books too. I was in Carnegie Main, the main branch of the Pittsburgh Library system, and saw a book cover with tons of books on it, so had to investigate. It was the German edition. :)

Maybe you will win one and it would get to Hawaii three months later!

Really? I've only seen glowing reviews of Amelia Anne!

I don't think it's a you book at all. O_O

I always have high hopes for R.L. Stine but I have heard such bad things about it, I hope you prove it different!

Love the pictures at the beginning of every chapter in The Bookie's Son, I hope you like it.

I totally don't say where they are from either, so I always make sure to write a note at the bottom because I am a failure like that.

I reallllllly enjoyed Amelia Anne is Dead and Gone, I had that one randomly gifted from another blogger and it was such a great surprise. The writing is STUNNING.

I am a librarian in my twenties. I got my MLIS at the University of Pittsburgh in 2010, and, through the vagaries of the job market, ended up working at a software company, rather than a librarian. I still very much consider myself to be a librarian, though.
